Re: Grocery Stores
But people aren't born with Sr. as part of their legal name, right? So, when and how does one add Sr. to their name? Is this a legal process that you go thru or is it informal?

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
They're holding out for an actual guarantee that a competitor won't be able to open in this development, in order to protect Cub. It doesn't seem like this would be too hard a guarantee to make. Is a supermarket really part of the plans here, to the point where it would be a deal breaker for a deve...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
From Trump's executive order pertaining to immigration and sanctuary cities:
(c) Ensure that jurisdictions that fail to comply with applicable Federal law do not receive Federal funds, except as mandated by law;
What kind of funds would these be, that aren't mandated by law?

"There are skeptics, particularly those who question how many Floridians will get out of their air-conditioned cars during much of the year’s hot, humid weather."
It's either too hot or too cold to not drive your car.

Re: 46th & Hiawatha Mixed Use (Oppidan/Greco Project)
Can anyone with experience watching these kinds of projects give any inclination of how sure this is to becoming a reality? And what sorts of means of communication are used to announce progress? I was at the community meeting at the Longfellow Rec Center, but I didn't really get a sense of how far ...

Re: Southside - General Topics
Not sure if this is worthy of it's own thread at this stage, but Alliance Housing Inc. is looking to build a low income apartment building for seniors at 3001 E. Lake St., the vacant spot where McMahon's Pub used to stand. Longfellow/Nokomis Messenger has the story here, http://www.longfellownokomis...

Re: Longfellow "Town Square" / Oppidan Project
I think about 2 or 3 people asked which grocery store and each time it was answered with a, don't know. But one of the developers did mention that they have worked with about 11 different grocers in local projects, basically trying to say that they didn't just work with one specific one. He highligh...

I believe the entire 1st floor. The main entrance to the grocery store will be facing the surface parking lot. Will the grocery/retail cover the entire 1st level, or just the side near 46th St?

Re: Longfellow "Town Square" / Oppidan Project
The anti-project crowd was worried about their neighborhood losing its character, but the developers and CM Andrew Johnson did a good job of explaining how this project will enhance the area. Probably to no effect. Haha, yep. At the end of the meeting I overheard a woman who must have a home near t...

Re: Southside - General Topics
Construction has begun at the old White Castle at 36th Ave and East Lake St. It was completely abandoned this morning and by 5p they had the whole building fenced off with a couple of dumpsters and storage boxes or something and had already gone to town inside the building too. Looks like they are g...

Re: Longfellow "Town Square" / Oppidan Project
I think they are in discussion with Xcel in regards to possibly moving the power lines, sounded like a slow and cumbersome process. I believe the cost of burying them in the three block area was mentioned at around 6 million dollars, so they didn't foresee that happening. They said a study of the 46...

Re: Longfellow "Town Square" / Oppidan Project
Informative meeting. I think it must have gone similarly to other presentations of this sort, with the usual NIMBYs bringing up congestion and traffic complaints. There were, however, quite a few attendees in favor of the density, who also brought up pedestrian and biking concerns. The power lines s...

Finally had success using the app. Had to uninstall the app and reinstall it before I could activate a stored ticket. I hope these issues get fixed quickly. This is definitely not something an infrequent rider is going to want to deal with.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Anyone know if the Metro Transit fare app works the same on MVTA as it does on Metro Transit buses? I saw in one of the reviews in the Google store that someone had trouble with it on an MVTA bus, driver said the particular fare wasn't valid on MVTA. Also, any trouble using it in general? I tried to...

I called 311 today and they passed me through to the inspector's telephone. I left a message, but no return call yet. When I hit the reopen link on the app I just get an explanation of the privacy policy for private reports, but my initial report wasn't private. Kinda frustrating. This particular pi...

Re: Minneapolis 311
I've recently started using the 311 app, but my reports seem to be quickly closed with no resolution. There's a huge pile of snow and ice dumped right on the sidewalk between the curb cuts for the White Castle drive thru, now closed, at 36th Ave S and East Lake, along 36th Ave S. You can't get aroun...
