Re: Downtown Retail News
Quick question - I always like to try to go back in time and recall what stores were formerly there when it first opened...Eddie Bauer, what else?

Re: Nicollet Mall
Personally I like the idea of the reflective mirror under the skyways. Love them or hate them, skyways are not going anywhere and are a huge part of what makes up our cities and urban landscape. We need to start thinking about how to better incorporate them into the city from a design standpoint and...

Re: Downtown Retail News
I like the selection but a bit spendy. Also - the employees at the discount location were always friendly but there was a bit of an attitude at Len Duskin's mens' store.

Re: Washington Avenue
Doesn't the DID cover most the area Washington Avenue travels through? If not - it should be extended to do so to provide more services - shoveling, greening, etc.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block/800 Washington
Sounds like the city still wants any possible development to include green space, but it may no longer be the entire block. Not surprising considering the new park going up in DTE and funding issues for that park. Also - the North Loop still has plans to build a park as well. Still - the more green ...

Len closing downtown stores. Plans to rebrand/consolidate and reopen downtown in 2015: http://www.journalmpls.com/news-feed/len-druskin-closing-three-more-downtown-stores-in-rebranding-effort Makes sense to me. Personally I always think it's a bad idea to have the same company selling women/mens' cl...

Re: Andrews Hotel site (4th & Hennepin)
Excited about this! Obviously expect something tall and skinny. Funny how all of these developments especially those close to the light rail still want parking. Especially doesn't make sense here because the owner of the lot owns the parking garage next to it. I would say tear that sucker down and r...

Obviously there must be some type of rendering they are showing tenants/prospective tenants to get them interested in the building/office space. Wish they'd share it with the public.

Happy news!! I sure it's popular with the UofM students as well. Hope to make it up to Duluth this summer and check things out. Would be great if they opened a location in Mpls. as well.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
FAO Schwarz! OK, I'll stop. It would be fun if somone who has heard the rumor could tell us if one of us has guessed correctly. Thus far we have, LegoLand, FAO Schwarz, and Creative Kidstuff. You don't need to 'announce' which one, if any of the three, but you could say 'Yes' or 'No'. Wasn't there ...

Hmmm - how about an indoor broom ball court? Although the game originated in Canada - I know it's very popular in MN. Something different you don't find in every state/city.

Re: Nicollet Mall
I agree - you can't count on one street to make downtown an interesting place to be. I am all for a Nicollet Mall renovation, but wish the city would spend just as much attention on making other streets downtown, especially those east-west streets more pedestrian friendly with shops, restaurants, tr...
