Can't blame them for not foreseeing the pandemic, but the county spending fifty million on the Thrivent building (and taking a half block of downtown off the tax rolls) at the same time the city was building a new office building across the street was a real missed opportunity.

There's a big decal-type sign for this up on the existing building at the corner of Washington and 3rd Avenue, but they didn't splurge for fancier renderings than what we've already seen. Hope this one ends up working out!

Maybe they could partner with First Avenue to build a community performing arts space? We don't have one of those on the river up there.

I always remember a MinnPost article from ages ago citing a study saying that 99% of Northsiders “have or know someone who has asthma” as an example of the hard-hitting, data-driven thinking around HERC.

There also appears to finally be some construction going on in the former McCormick and Schmick’s space at 9th & Nicollet.

I've always regretted not getting one of the Metrodome urinal troughs.

It did seem like an odd strategy to end the strike by committing to use a bunch of one time funding to create ongoing expenses when there was already a significant budget deficit--not sure if anyone noticed this at the time.

This issue is now coded as Annoying, but they should still change it. God knows what they'd come up with for a new one, though!

Capacity on Marquette & 2nd won't be a problem for a long time. Metro Transit is planning to cut a lot of the suspended routes as part of the Network Now initiative. Moving Nicollet buses to Marquette & 2nd does put bus riders on the empty office streets away from pretty much all the stores...

Seven and a half years later and, still, no one is in charge of anything.
