Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Just a note on city submissions and residential floor plans; If it's not the first floor and how the building interacts with public spaces (i.e. sidewalks, roads, ROW), the city... doesn't really care. And because of that, many of the unit layouts are submitted in an "In Progress" state. W...

Also transit is literally a replacement for cars in Oslo since all their new tolls for going to the center of the city are paying for transit infrastructure. In Oslo they have a free shuttle bus to Ikea. It's quite popular, especially with university students like myself when I was there in 2015.

Really hope that CoW tears this thing apart. Having a split underground/wrapped parking structure adds this additional ramp that disturbs pedestrian space. Loading entrance is on 15th, which is almost guaranteed to block out bike and ped traffic every once in a while, if not every day. Going all the...

I think it's good that it's top is NOT bright. This is close to the river and further outside of downtown core.

Lights are turned on. The top has a really nice soft warm glow to it. I kind of like it since it's not trying to draw attention away from the core night skyline. Take a look tonight!

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
In theory, I very much want the North Star Line to succeed, but remain frustrated that almost nothing is being done along its route to make communities less car-oriented. It's the same old sprawl development paired with highway expansions making driving the most convenient and logical choice for co...

Re: West Lake Apartments - 3012 Excelsior Blvd
We honestly have too too much parkland in the city. I'm gonna stop you right there. Have you been to other cities. I can't think of any that comes close to the spread of parks all around Minneapolis. I'm not saying that we can never add more parks. But we have greater needs. There's a balance betwe...

Re: Duffey 2.0 - 3rd St N
I meant to say back up* my bad. Thr3 Jack at least breaks the last 50 feet of the space by wrapping their storefront back, but the only solution for Duffey 2.0 would be to reconfigure their entire parking layout, which just won't happen. Maybe this space would have been nice if we didn't feel we nee...

Re: Duffey 2.0 - 3rd St N
The site plans show this alley space as being much tighter than the renderings suggest. It will not be pleasant -- I wonder if it will actually be gated off? Between Duffey 2.0 and Sable? It's 10'-4" wide, that should be plenty of space. Aerial renderings are hard to scale appropriately, speak...

Re: South Nicollet-Lyndale-Kingfield-Tangletown-Windom
All is pretty much lost on the front of goods and services. There's a solid belief that we're going to become 100% reliant on online shopping for the rest of our lives, so there's no need for it. Despite almost every other major city working to fight against that change because they recognize the ne...

Re: Minneapolis City Planning Commission (meetings, agenda items, members, etc.)
I'm seeing a lot of construction for a city that's apparently abandoned due to crime and riots. Approvals should be expectedly slow right now, the post recession boom didn't truly hit until 2013-2014. And we're still in the thick of a pandemic.
