Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Lake Street station is pretty gross now though, tbh. Someone (city, county, CTIB, the Lake Street Council, someone ) should really work at funding better janitorial services. I've been a proponent since 2004 of Metro Council considering how to provide retail *in* or *at* the major light rail statio...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development

Maybe MLS can grow its fan base to a point where networks think they can sell ads at significantly greater rate so that owners would have a broader guaranteed revenue stream. I think that with the proliferation of outlets that can cater to individual fan tastes may work against soccer in the US. So...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Because if the public is already paying to heat a weather-protected space, gods forbid those in need actually use it for heated weather protection in the dead of MN winter. Better to have it sit empty and immaculate while those people freeze on the streets, right? I understand the coldness of my co...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Anyone else feel that the Lake St Blue Line station is getting pretty nasty? One fellow commuter commented that it is one of the worst she has seen in her travels around the country. It's been a topic on Nextdoor too. Has it always been this bad? Or is it really not that bad? I've been transferring ...

Re: Southside - General Topics

Tim Hortons was open for business this morning. No big fanfare or balloons or anything, just a few customers ordering and a full house of employees going to work. Maybe they'll have a grand opening ceremony at some point.

Re: Southside - General Topics

Tim Hortons is having a soft opening right now, not sure until what time. Just walk in an order and it's on the house. They said grand opening will be sometime next week.
This is the 36th Ave S and East Lake St location.

KSTP is here covering the meeting. I guess they're expecting heated discussion.

Re: Sunday Liquor Sales and other Beer/Liquor Legislation

Let's all just try to drink 17% more at home so that the extra sales can make up for the extra operating expense.

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the post. I expect this meeting to be heated. I hope they have a larger space secured than last week's Oppidan Project meeting at Hiawatha Park Rec Center, might help keep the tension level down.

Re: Bike Shopping

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas everyone. How much are you willing to spend? What kind of bars do you want? I was going to suggest that you try a Civia. The North Loop is great if you can find it! I would like to stay under $400.00, ideally, if I go new, under $300.00 if I can find something wo...

Re: Bike Shopping

Wanted to revive this post as I would like to purchase a bike and want to get something that will be easier on my aging back than my mountain bike, would like to sit more up-right. I'd like to keep it as economical as possible too, so looking at used bikes pretty much, but not exclusively. Wondering...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development

Part of the write up on the UPDC page seems to contradict itself a bit. First they have this sentence: "They are planning for earthwork on the bus barn site and the demolition of the Rainbow Foods portion of the Midway Center to happen beginning May 16." But further down they have this: &q...

Re: 46th & Hiawatha Mixed Use (Oppidan/Greco Project)

Still no official word of who will fill the grocery store space. The anti-development crowd was there in force and a bit more hostile this time, IMO. There were some in favor, but they generally kept quiet as the complainers took over the meeting.
