Re: Superior Plating site
I appreciate that they're leaving the other half of the site empty, so the Phase 2 plans can be potentially be modified to avoid the twin tower concept, or, if it falls through entirely, bought by someone else in the future and developed independently. Much better than the Stanton Eclipse proposal, ...

No pictures, but Target Field Station Platform 1 has NexTrip, while Platform 2 does not. Weird.

Well, its encouraging that DMUs are under consideration, I guess. Also, how exactly does "BRT Express" differ from normal express buses? Just the fancy paint?

Yeah, I noticed as I walked by, excitedly tweeted a picture, then checked the website and had my hopes dashed. Still, progress.

Re: 2015 MN Legislative Session & Budget
Amen. On top of it, mass transit has a proverbial gun to its head, and it's not because of the GOP. Driverless cars will be here by 2020 and the burden is on transit to re-invest and re-invent itself to stay viable and capture mode share, especially as the millenial generation comes of age and make...

Re: Grocery Stores
I don't personally purchase it, but Cedar Summits' milk is very good. It is a shame they bought into the woo and are closing down when there's no reason to. Or, alternatively, its a shame that enough their customer base buys into the woo and will stop purchasing their milk that they have to close do...

mulad and VAStationDude remind me that I took a 6 on Friday night that had the automated announcements. Does anyone know what's the threshold for "a major transfer point"?

It's been said before, but lol at the "LRT on tires" Red Line not making the High Frequency cutoff. What a joke.

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
For skyway gateways, I would include the USBancorp Center and the Target store entrance. Both have big windows that let people easily see escalators/stairs up to the skyway level, and that there's (at least one) business entrance up there.

Re: Downtown Parking
But these changes would require a few parking spots to be removed, and removing even one surface spot downtown is tantamount to removing all parking downtown and declaring a HOLY WAR ON CARS!!!1

Re: AC Marriott Hotel (401 Hennepin Ave / Andrews Hotel site
I'm struggling to see how the design of this hotel is somehow worse than the flat, boring, featureless ... thing ... being build on the corner of 1st Ave and 8th Street. IMO, it isn't a worse design. Its just that a bad design is more acceptable for a cheap hotel on a secondary street than a luxury...

Re: AC Marriott Hotel (401 Hennepin Ave / Andrews Hotel site
I don't think so. I wonder if denying the parking variance would just make Mortenson shrug, build a roof over the parking lot, them probably cut some corners elsewhere to make up the cost. The city had leverage with The Venue at Dinkytown, because they were asking for variances and permissions that ...
