Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Does anybody know what those colored panels, on street level, are going to be? They've shown different colors in different illustrations. The color combination, illustrated on the most recent renderings, is a bit horrible... but fall-like. I wonder if they are going to be some type of lighting effec...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
I updated my google earth model for this building... with changes to the crown, the facade, the pool area, and coloring... if anybody would like to view it in google earth. It may take a few minutes to load... but it will load. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=4d28e2cd025b74f2dacbb...

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
M-town is a blue collar town that's an hours drive to a huuuuuuge white collar town (Chicago). It's sort of like... St Cloud is to Minneapolis-St. Paul as Milwaukee is to Chicago. At least that's how it felt when I was going to college in the Chicago area... excuse me... I mean 'Chicagoland.' Their ...

Re: Vikings Stadium
I too wasn't sold by the images presented. However, this picture, of the model, sold me completely.
Granted... I'm not sure who, if anyone, would be looking at the built stadium from that angle...

Re: Vikings Stadium
The point is even the RENDERINGS look horrible. Sure every project starts with a rough sketch, but then some actual work is done to design the building. It looks like no thought was put into this, just a few random angles and giant blank walls. No attention to detail. Just a gimmicky giant bunker w...

i didn't bring it up to upset anyone... just to inform people that great architecture often comes off of a scribble on a napkin.

the cancelled "the nicollet" started as a scribble on a bar napkin too... by some buzzed chick if I remember correctly.

Re: Dock Street Apartments - (333 Washington Avenue North)
I posted a story in the "Apartment Boom" thread about Hines working on their next project. The article uses the word "tower", so I assume their plans have not changed. In Hines' master plan from 2011, discussed at the beginning of this thread, there would be a 16-story building ...

yeah... in google earth mine (the other 5th st tower) is gone. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. At one time the capella tower was also missing. It's back now of course.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
276 feet is the last we heard... with an option to go to nearly 300 feet.
So... this would be 85 feet taller.

Re: Vikings Stadium
I've been working on a google earth model of the new stadium. There are a lot of weird angles. It was a lot more difficult than drawing a shape and extending that shape upward so many feet (like a tower... drawing a square floor... and stacking them on top of themselves so many feet... nic on 5th). ...
