Re: Northeast (and Southeast) - General Topics

Anything with substantial height on that parcel is going to look so cool. Triangular buildings that divide the two view corridors seem to be a hallmark of denser cities.

Nah, I think he just messed up his link. There's a second article on bizjournals for this project.

Re: Mayo Clinic Square

The NE corner will be the Jack Links Jerky Experience, as I understand it. 4% of the building would be about 16% of one floor, which (my guess only) would be the first level of the old Hard Rock space across the street from First Ave. Ah, I thought those two were flipped and Jack Links was going in...

Re: Mayo Clinic Square

I'm confused how it could be 96% leased. Aren't there several street level spaces still vacant, like the NE corner, that still aren't spoken for?

Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)

It'd have to be somewhere that would affect two freeways at once. I think our network is redundant enough to overcome shutting down one single freeway even if it's I-94. Most catastrophic would be I-35W and 494 interchange, I-94/35W commons south of downtown, then probably crosstown commons or 35E/9...

If #2 wins out, I can think of a couple other Upper Midwestern downtowns that a upscale movie theater would do well in.
Don't you know? We can't have nice things.

So wait, we have a prohibition against tearing down buildings for parking, but we didn't think to block converting building to parking ramps?

Re: A Strip Mall - (129 Plymouth Avenue North)

It's started to cross 10th. Give in 5 more years and we'll see the movement into the industrial zone. I kind of doubt it. If anything, it will start heading west across the viaduct like it already has been doing. That's where the LRT lines are going anyways, while nothing is planned currently on I-...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Alternatively, if this line bombs (and I'm not at all saying it will), it will be a truly massive albatross hanging over the DFL, Hennepin county area and the Met Council for decades. This line has faced a tremendous amount of pushback and second-guessing, the worst case scenario would be to validat...

Does the alcohol content of the beer have any serious disinfecting properties or no?

Anyways it looks like this will be in direct competition with City Works just a few blocks north.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

80% is ridiculous, but in 2017 the Met Council only expects to get 17% of funding through fares. That has to improve greatly or the Met Council loses a lot of leverage in these debates. We've seen proposals for a fare increase but no info yet on how that would move the farebox recovery ratio. http:/...

Speaking of funding (this could go here or the general funding thread), the citizens's league got together to try and find acceptable funding sources to free up the transit "logjam". They presented their recommendations to the legislature this week. http://www.startribune.com/citizens-leag...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project

Forget Hennepin, 3rd ave makes too much sense not to have dedicated lanes. All the Nicollet Mall routes that cross the river go over the Central Ave. bridge, not on Hennepin. Only the 17 and 18 would have to jog over. But yeah, removing the buses and making the mall ped+bike only has to be one of th...
