Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)

Also, this story says Nic on Fifth is expected to cost around $100 million and that 222 Hennepin is $70 million. I know 222 has a considerably larger footprint, but this doesn't really jive with the "short stick buildings are so much cheaper" line, does it?

Re: LRT spur to West End

This is kind of an aside, but I went to a movie at the West End this weekend and parked in the ramp rather than the basement, where I usually park. After going to through the first ramp and crossing over to a second ramp, it was a really terrible pedestrian experience. The signs for elevators appear...

I don't think anyone has said this yet, but University is back fully open from the U to 280 again.

Re: Downtown Retail News

It feels like half of the discussion here is downtown retail shouldn't try to mimic the suburban shopping malls, and the other half is which shopping mall staple chain stores should go downtown.

I'd been wondering that. So the area in the middle of the U-shaped area will be a pool?

Re: Vikings Stadium

The thing is, PSLs are a market-tested success; they are going to happen. The question is simply to what extent. My understanding is that the new stadium will have a "club" level, like the Xcel Energy Center and Target Field, which would be an ideal place in which to use PSLs. The concern ...

Re: Vikings Stadium

Come on. Protests against inevitability are a waste of time. This quote, from the Seifert blog, is my problem with a lot of the attitude toward dealing with the NFL. The team is here for the next 30 years, so even if preventing PSL's is impossible, why not take advantage of the bully pulpit to high...

Re: Vikings Stadium

It was always assumed that personal seat licenses would come into play, since that is generally how these stadium deals are funded. Of course it was never officially written down, but it should come as no surprise that the team is floating this idea. I applaud Dayton for making note of this, though....

Re: The Bridges - (950 University Avenue SE)

I drove by this today and there is a sign up saying "The Bridges" and whatnot. As an aside, I had to work an event at the U last night so I got dropped off and grabbed dinner first at Dino's Gyros. It's pretty amazing how much different this Stadium Village area feels now as compared to pr...

DaPerpKazoo is on the right track, in my opinion.

I drive through this area every day, and I feel like the biggest problem is that there's no way to get through the area without getting caught up in a whole lot of other "stuff."

Re: Vote NO! & NO!

Bachmann is going to be hard to beat. It's hard to imagine a candidate much stronger than Jim Graves, and she has now won elections in three strong Democratic years (2006, 2008, 2012). Part of the problem is that many of the attacks against her fall on deaf ears. Telling Bachmann supporters in the s...
