Re: The Eclipse
The first level looks perfect for an upscale car dealership. It's hard to envision something like that at this intersection, but it could work.

Re: City Center
City Center really needs to concentrate on real retail. Names that people want to shop at, street frontage where people can see the clothing that is in the stores and doors that let you inside to buy. I was hoping the Len re-orging would lead to an impressive, crisp, modern, glass-clad corner locat...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
I think having an Uptown and Downtown Apple store may be a bit too close for their business model, but who knows. There are a ton of ad agencies in this area (big Mac users) and with the DT workforce and residential numbers, maybe it's viable.

Re: National Marrow Donor Program HQ - (524 Fifth Street Nor
Yeah, I was going for the dramatic flourish. In all honesty, I only know a couple people there (separately, I don't think they know each other). But I had to chuckle at their similar, eye-rolling reaction to being DT. It could be the typical Minnesotan reaction to anything involving change. But it d...

Re: Plymouth Building Hotel Conversion - (12 6th Street Sout
Conrad hotels convey an elegant image. There will be some attention to details. I hope we will see some significant upgrade of the exterior, but probably not a replication of the original ceramic detail. Just my guess. I'm thinking maybe along the lines of how the Soo Line Building went, but, maybe...

Re: The Eclipse
I like it. The previous proposal was pretty slick, but I'm willing to let that more 'Miami' look go. I just wish Phase 1 and 2 would swap, just my preference to get the Henn/Wash corner tower first. I'm also now changing my mind of having that park across Hennepin. I'm leaning toward another develop...

That was my exact thought. One is enough of those. That 49 story version looks about as graceful as the Multifoods tower.

Are they done with the crown? From the street, and also the roof of my building, I can't tell if I'm looking at a finished product. I'm kinda getting "The Ivy" stomach pangs at this point.

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
It just seems odd, the idea of sitting outside at a future 1st Ave street-side Velo café, to the glamour of grinding and grunting semi trucks hauling sweaty flax seed burger patties backing up into the Whole Foods' loading docks .

and it went on a surface parking lot, I'm sure that was doing a lot for the neighborhood that guy is saying goodbye to. He probably had definitive character building memories associated with that parking lot, which (like most Minneapolitans) are invariably connected to Moby Dick's, the NW weather b...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
Agreed. When the Velo is completed, this will be an odd stretch of 1st Ave. It's as though Velo's face will be right up 222's butt crack. The first avenue side is a disaster

Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
I lived in this neighborhood about 10 years ago. The thing I liked and still miss was the relatively eclectic mix of buildings and dwellers. I think LPM adds to that interesting mix. It's a sharp looking building, so I'm not understanding those negative comments either. That being said, I recently d...

I like it. Too perfect to pass up.I would absolutely throw a couple hundred bucks at a Kickstarter/whatever for naming it Valhalla.Too bad it will be corporate. I'd like to see it named Valhalla.

Re: 129 Plymouth Ave N
Well, in my eye, the North Loop Style is basically just 6-story residential, which I don't think would go on this parcel. Maybe. Sure, I look north of Plymouth along 2nd and wish it didn't look like Sanford & Son went beyond the Thunderdome. But, I don't see those businesses going anywhere, or m...

I'd rather have a strip mall than industrial development, even if it does fly in the face of the historic scrap metal district.

Re: Mill City Quarter - (300 South 2nd Street)
I've often found myself annoyed with the people that relentlessly complain about "more height" on this site. So at the risk of sounding like a hypocrite, I will say I really wish a tower would go up on this site. Something along the lines of a "Carlyle 2" would provide some much...
