Re: Schafer Richardson offices & parking ramp - 1000 3rd St N (Zuccaro’s Produce building)

Slight tangent- does anyone know why the existing structure was/is not included in the Minneapolis Warehouse Historic District? It was built during the period of significance, and even retained more (most) of its original appearance at the time the district was designated.

The way the development interacts with the auto shop reminds me of this house: https://eatballard.com/edith-macefield-house-up-house-in-ballard/ And it'll allow a smaller future developmen...

Because I already had it typed out before SurlyLHT beat me to the link:

Now called SP2 and only 11 stories/ 134' in height. Still a massive 331 units, now occupying entire remaining site, and hilariously leaving auto shop intact.

New Good Grocer location on 27th & Nicollet planned to have five stories of apartments on top, but a parking lot to the side/ rear: http://minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/pub ... 210278.pdf

Parking lot and all, building looks nice.

Re: Schafer Richardson offices & parking ramp - 1000 3rd St N (Zuccaro’s Produce building)

They are now proposing to demolish the current Zuccaro's building and construct a new (I'm assuming stick) six story apartment building in its place: http://minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/pub ... 210280.pdf

Very disappointing.

This description of the city policies that led to Juxtaposition Arts demolishing their building on West Broadway is... frustrating. Hoping this turns out well in the long run: http://www.citypages.com/arts/juxtaposi ... /478403613

Looks like the site is configured so that closure won't be necessary, similar to how the Holiday has been done.

Re: City Club Apartments - 1000 Marquette Ave (Handicraft Building)

Ugh. I shot a music video on the roof of this building a few years ago, and we had to climb through an open window to get out there. The upper floors were an amazingly eclectic mix of small offices and studios. Going through there felt like walking through the bad part of town in a film noir to get ...

I'd go just because they're non union. In my experience you get less service at a higher cost using the union, but you also get the bonus of dealing with a bunch of attitiudes to boot. An organization that outright roots for someone to fail and obstructs business if they don't use their services is...

... Wow. Both new towers stand at 269' as proposed. Street realignment and plenty of low-rise infill masking the parking.

Re: Northside - General Topics

Gross, I thought this was dead. (At least it's smaller than before?) Site is almost entirely surrounded by parking, but yeah let's demo the existing buildings with good street frontage. I get that they're in really rough shape, but still. Also not into the driveway/ parking lot on W Broadway itself.

Re: Granary Corridor

Thankfully, no. (I don't like any part of this project. We don't need cars in the Dinkytown Greenway trench adding noise/ exhaust/ potential collision points to what is currently a nice bike path. Built as fully envisioned, it would also significantly increase through traffic on Main St.)

Re: Montage (Nye's redevelopment) - 116 E Hennepin Avenue

This building does so, so much for the surrounding area at street level. I'm really glad we got this result instead of a skyscraper plopped on top of a lifeless parking podium. That being said, I do miss Nye's. We'll see how this turns out.

Re: Nord Haus - 315 1st Ave NE (208' - 20 Stories)

Minneapolis skyline goes dark at midnight. I'd expect Nord Haus to do the same, it'd be pretty weird and inconsiderate if it didn't. Is this by law? Target Plaza's lights seem to stay on all night, as do the Nic on 5th's. A couple weeks ago the IDS also stopped shutting off at night altogether. I r...
