Re: Bloomington Central Station - Bloomington

*edit: I didn't realize these were the same projects already discussed.......six stories with a massive parking garage (seems to negate the primary benefit of living right next to transit, especially right under a flight pathway). First of all, just because someone lives along a rail or bus line do...

Re: Zip Rail to Rochester

Wha? Do they really expect people to take Zip Rail to Chicago via Minneapolis? If so, wouldn't a bus to La Crosse be way cheaper and faster? I thought the exact same thing! It's about a 45 min drive from Rochester to Lacrosse, and the train is a 3 1/2 hour ride from Lacrosse to Chicago. WAY smarter...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

They've evidently been renovated since then, so they may not be as you remember. Who really cares? (if the building has or hasn't been renovated) Most every building along the green line's path can claim that then... so to me, this is just pure stupidity. I say let them try and sue - and then let t...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

I knew someone who lived here, they are nothing beyond ordinary. Very true! My brother & his wife lived in these apartments in 1997... they weren't very special then, and I'm certainly they aren't now - with 20 more years of aging. I live less than 50 feet from the light rail tracks in S. Mpls....

Re: Target Center Renovation

Please Mortenson, save this from what surely could be a hideous architectural monstrosity. Given what the Target Center is and the budget I don't think Mortenson or anyone else can save the Target Center from being a hideous architectural monstrosity. SO love all the Debbie Downers on this page! Je...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)

Bars close at 1am here? Give me a late night diner or food option while I wait for train service to begin again, and I am happy camper. Will they be running later trains for the 4am close time during All Star weekend? Bar time is 2am. And as LRV Op Dude pointed out, trains depart Target Field Stati...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)

Why do the trains only run every hour after 12:30 AM? I think on the weekends they should run every half hour (or more) until the bars close. I often take a train downtown and have to cut the night short, which is usually fine considering I'm becoming an old man. However, this weekend I'm going to ...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium

With the hotels now proposed and those that are being refurbished or will for sure be in St. Paul and those new hotels out at MOA, I don't see and room deficit for the games that can't be accessed by the LRT. This does not include the Bloomington Strip and other hotels in the area. But if you have ...

Re: Impound Lot

Nope. The airport has been there since at least 1921 and was a racetrack before that. Not many houses out that way at the time. Sorry, to clairfy, the airport was a very small airport when most of those homes were built. In fact, the airport didn't see its first major expansion until the 1960s... F...

Re: Impound Lot

I like the airport lot idea for Minneapolis for sure. Barring that, I'm sure we can find two smaller lots on the outskirts for this purpose. Of course, the neighborhoods where the impound lots would be relocated would scream bloody murder, and social justice, etc. all the same. Actually there are s...

Re: Cedar Point Commons (Target) - Richfield

Why is Richfield so dilapidated looking? Driving down 66th street feels like driving through Bosnia. Drama much? Richfield is a post-WWI community. It has rows and rows of homes built quickly and cheaply, but that doesn't mean they are dilapidated! Where do you live? Do you own a house? If so, I hi...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project

It always amazes me at some of the comments people post about the projects proposed or happening around the metro. For those questioning the price tag of the 12 block redo, there have been stories over the years about how maintaining the current state will cost more in the long run. The other point ...

Assuming it gets the votes, the Legislature has reached a deal on the Bonding bill, which includes $21.5 million for Nicollet Mall.

Re: Target Center Renovation

I think it looks really cool and will be a very nice complement to Target Field and Mayo Clinic Square. But it's pretty clear I'm in the minority on this site... I like the increased glass, the new texture of the metal panels, and the darker look. I think it's a HUGE improvement over the current con...

Re: Bottineau Corridor (Blue Line Extension)

Any idea what Olson will look like post-LRT? Right now it's a really awkward 6-lane + 2 two-way frontage road design, with buses stopping in the right lane and weird intersections due to the frontage roads. We could do a lot more with fewer lanes, inviting TOD and moving just as many buses/cars. Ex...

Re: New Kraus-Anderson HQ (8th St. S/5th Ave. S)

By orienting the building with that much glass and investment towards the middle of the block, there will be little to no chance for any future infill to hug that building. Well thankfully this hasn't been presented to the City or been through any approval process yet. So hopefully things like adja...

Re: Downtown Retail News

On the south side of Washington Ave or maybe along Third Street would be perfect. Also seems like a good fit for the stadium parking ramp air rights development if the project could accommodate the square footage needed for a grocery store at the base. Or in conjunction with one of the two northern...
