Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT
I was pretty disappointed with the Maryland Avenue station placement, but then they decided to add the Cook Ave station, which is close not only to the Hmong Village shopping center, but also Baldinger Bakery, Duluth Case Rec Center, and some apartment buildings west of Phalen Blvd. I was quite surp...

Re: Former West Publishing / County Jail development site
I guess there may be different definitions of timid. It is super easy from CHS, but getting to CHS from the West Publishing site is another story.

Re: Fantasy maps
I wonder if the 82 would have enough ridership to justify service. Maybe it should be the #3B...
#80 also doesn't go downtown, so both WBA buses require a transfer to get DT.
On the whole, however, I do favor a more grid-like system, so this might be an advantage in terms of route predictability.

Re: Fantasy maps
So the Gold Line replaces the 94X? Has there been any public conversation around this? I like the Como/Maryland bus idea. I'm curious about extending the Gold Line but not the Rush (Purple). Does this have something to do with the approach direction into Union Depot? 66 Earl bus is interesting, take...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
a regional approach? I'd rather scrap these commuter lines and focus on upgrading transit in the urban core of MPLS & StP. We don't need to encourage sprawl.

Re: Fantasy maps
I would love to see the Purple Line go past DT St. Paul, but in doing this it doesn't go to the Union Depot, and that appears to be a non-starter with Ramsey County.
Do you think once it's out of the Ramsey County's hands and into the hands of the Met Council they could rethink the Union Depot focus?

Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT
Current thinking is that Phalen Village stop will be at Maryland just east of Johnson in line with the Ramsey County right of way. However, engineers are considering an additional stop between Hmong Village and the Duluth Case Recreation Center. They are also considering a bridge over Johnson Parkwa...

Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT
We weren't given time estimates for any of these options.
The hope is that Seeger Square and surrounding properties won't remain a strip mall or empty space, but I admit this is merely a hope. It's also criteria around which the discussion was had.

Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT
Yeah, it really depends on your perspective. The first two options would certainly be far faster, but I just can't imagine having a major transit stop in the middle of the bridge. I also can't see having the 61 / 54 make stops there just for transfers - that would be ridiculous.

Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT
At a recent station planning meeting there was a new idea for the Arcade Street stop. As you likely know, Phalen Blvd travels under the Arcade St bridge between Vertical Endeavors and the old 3M site. This isn't a great placement for a BRT stop. There were 4 possible station arrangements discussed: ...

The Rush Line has started its local station area planning meetings with community members to refine where to put the stations. They have also sent out confirmations to people on the Community Advisory Committee (I'll be on it).

Re: Phalen Village
Again, I was told there wasn't developer interest to make it higher density. Apparently the neighborhood was desperate for a drive-thru coffee shop and didn't want to wait for something better. Also, many in the neighborhood probably like strip malls. The other commercial area for D2 is White Bear A...
