Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I'm still camped out across the street from Prospect park station, and another announcement just came on that there is another delay. (perhaps another "medical emergency"). Some people are bailing off the platform and heading for the 16 stop looks like.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I just saw a train go by with a fresh big a** white scrape down the starboard side from the front the about mid car. I'm guessing some vehicle pullled up to far past the paint line at a stop light.
Just a supposition.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
At the prospect park station, there were no trains for more than 15 minutes. Then, there was an announcement that there would be a delay of 10-15 minutes. Shortly there after, came one train, and then about 90 seconds later came another (both of these were 2 car configurations). Then just a few minu...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I posed the question because I work with many LRT haters and they always ask me why a train is so much superior to a bus. I struggled to give them a satisfactory answer. I did tell them that I think the LRT line will pay big dividends not today or tomorrow, but in another 10-20 years, when the metro...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Thats a really good question.... I was wondering myself what makes LRT so much more attractive and appealing than a bus. Anyone?
I do think it will pull a lot of people who never ever wouldve ridden the bus.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
"mid block intersections Albert and Grotto). So I know that full signal priority would be tough at those major intersections, but my suggestion is that at the mid block intersections the LRT could have full priority. Might help kept moving things along" Sorry, I made a mistake by saying mi...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
This morning I boarded EB at westgate @6:15 I got off at Robert St @6:36. Train was moving really nice until Snelling. Then we stopped at Snelling, Lexington, and Dale. Furthermore, we caught a few other horizontal bars in between (mid block intersections Albert and Grotto). So I know that full sign...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
There is signal priority on University. For cars. I've done my own anecdotal study over the last 3 months and even when they "turned on the magic" with 2 weeks to go, I always, ALWAYS had priority over the train. Me and my lowly Hyundai would cause that 3 car beast to grind to a stop so I ...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
At the west end of Bridge #9 today they were paving the path under 35W. At first I thougth that they were black topping it with asphalt, but no! As I got closer I saw the concrete guys pouring *black* colored concrete for the cycling portion of the path. Wow! ($$$)

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
So, the signal had a train stopped on the bridge which was blocking eustis? WTF.....
Traffic stopped by a train stopped by a signal that obviously has no priority. I bet $1 that the train stopped at eustis too, before stopping at Cromwell.
Some of this bad press is well deserved.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Yeah prospect pete the terrorist....Good one. A better bet is on the terrorist is called Murphy. As in Murphy's law. The MLB All Star game is that night, and it will be the green lines first big event. It would be the worst possible timing for a disruption in service. And as we've seen how a minor s...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I wonder if Metro Transit has a scramble plan in place if the system is disabled in anyway shape or form. Im thinking of how even a minor accident can bring to a halt the train involved on the tracks. I understand that every few stops they have the ability to cross over tracks and such, but even tha...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Agreed. Wait until winter when the freezing passengers are watching their train stopped and waiting 100 feet away at the intersection while the traffic signals go through their cycles. Has anyone here really seen any evidence of ANY signal priority down university in St Paul? I know downtown has imp...

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News
I haven't seen any signs of life in the space below the farmers market apts. Weren't the owners of the strip club going to open something in there? It still has the for lease sign in the window.
