Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I'll throw my two cents in here. It seems like the trains spend a lot of time monkeying around 280. Often I see the train stopping twice there in a short amount of time while it waits for for frontage road traffic. Once today I even saw two trains occupying the bridge over 280, both awaiting their r...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Will they run 3 cars all the time or just during rush hour / high demand events?

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I drive Ayd Mill quite a bit, and have noticed that on the east side of the road (railroad side) there is an ample ROW which runs the length of it from Jefferson bike blvd all the way to Selby, soon to be home of higher density housing and aBRT. It's just a wide swath of grass. It could easily accom...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
You are correct, it isn't about the bike trail....but I wonder if the park district has anything to say about a tunnel through the woods?

Re: Prospect Park Station - (2901 Fourth Street Southeast)
This parcel of land has been fenced off for some time now, and more recently has had some construction supplies stored on it (perhaps for the Surley site or Habitat for Humanity site across the street). Now at the west end of it I noticed that there are garden plots going in for an urban garden. I g...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
The damage is done in the sense that Soucheray used the MPR article as ammo and hammered away at CCLRT "did the drivers get lost?". While it's true that the only people who take his articles seriously are at best skeptical of mass transit, I suspect his editorial further solidified their h...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Does anyone have any idea of when that tunnel on the west end of Bridge 9 will be completed? Also, looking at an aerial view is looks like the trail will continue cutting between parking lots come out near Izzies. Does anyone have more info on this? I rode by last night and looks like there was a lo...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
This Southwest Corridor thread is 120+ pages long, and maybe I missed any mention of it, but someone explain to me again why wouldn't it be possible to elevate the bike trail? Is that totally off the table? Not perfect but neither is 100's of millions of dollars for a tunnel through a forest. Down b...

How about a bare bones bike bridge over 35E for the soon to be neutered gateway trail?

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Looks minor, there is some debris from an automobile in te street and metro transit police and other officials milling around, they seem to be inspecting parts of the train which is stopped over 280 at this time. No sign of any damaged car.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Back to the signalling problems. It is really a St Paul thing? Wouldn't the contracter just install the stuff with all the other electronics and the cantenary as they went along? My small sample survey seems to agree with that theory: That the St Paul train signals are at best randomly cycling or at...

Re: The Penfield - (101 10th Street East)
I heard on the radio today that the lot across the street (someday to be Pedro Park) will get some window dressing with planters and flowers. There was a $30,000 grant. No word on when Pedro Park will materialize.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
The WATM is lit up like a Christmas tree. It's overwhelming visual pollution. Bikes cars busses trains peds.... All the flashing blinking almost gave me a seizure. I hope it's true they switched the pedestrian signals to on demand.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
When they start running the greenline will they be running 3 LRVs? Just eyeballing the bridge over 280 and the cedar ave bridge over the commons... They look almost too short to accommodate 3 LRVs. Maybe the signals will prevent the train from being stopped on the bridges?

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Is anybody concerened that pedestrians could be at risk crossing University to get to the platforms? I know its part of the design, but a button to push like waiting for a crosswalk which might light up an LED sign alerting drivers might save a life. Very low cost saftey feature as well. Ive seen a ...

Re: Intercity rail to Chicago
50 years!? Sigh. You are probably right. Its frustrating how these projects proceed a such a glacial pace. We are conservative in the true sense of the word: we just don't change much and when we do its with extreme caution. Meanwhile, in Los Angeles (not a fair comparison but I'll do it anyhow): &q...

Re: Intercity rail to Chicago
I was referring to like an intercity rail. The green line will get me there (eventually) after crossing 20+ intersections, and who knows how times the train will have to grind to a stop due to red lights, or incompetent drivers.
