Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
don't know if it would be possible but if the problem is the wall not fitting in with the historic area, couldn't they make the aesthetics of the wall look like it was built in the same time period as the rest the historic area

Re: Labeling the Transit System
For the 535, I could argue that it has a lower station per mile average, think it has a total of 20 stops (though it doesn't seem like most of them are in use at all times) But I don't now how long the route is so can't say for sure.

Re: Labeling the Transit System
From what I can work out, the general rule of thump for the current system seems to be METRO (plus color): -stations are spaced farther apart on average -has personal ROW on some sections (believe the Red line still kinda counts since unless I'm totally wrong it has a very small ROW only it uses at ...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
I kinda hope Normandale Community College considers adding a shuttle to and from the the South Bloomington Transit Center/Future 98th Street Station via 98th street or upgrading frequency on the 539 (maybe even replace those half sized buses they use on the route) and if its still around the 535. Th...

Re: Suburban City Councils, shenanigans
Given how poorly he did in the last mayor election getting less votes than then the number of write-ins, I have a strong suspicion that most of them where for the old mayor Eugene "Gene" Maxwell as a desperate attempt to get him out of retirement.

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
The only issue I see with the Midtown LRT is that if it uses the trench there's a good chance that they'll have to tear up the greenway which will probably piss of a awful lot of people who would under normal circumstances support it.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Don't know if this is the right place to ask but earlier around 2:30p.m. today I'm walking in downtown Hopkins and see a bunch of old passenger cars and even an old steam train go by headed towards Minneapolis on the TCW tracks. I'm assuming it was some type of private event for a railroad company, ...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Anyone else having a problem with google maps and some of the bus routes? I tried to work out new a commute schedule from a new work location down in Burnsville to Normandale Community College and google maps said the only available options where solely on fridays from 7-8am. Was a bit annoying but ...

Re: Metro Transit fares
I know, but the Metropass is only available for people who work for a select number of companies and the 3 school related passes only apply to students if the school is eligible, I was simply trying to think of some pass ideas for those who don't fall in either of those two options. Though I do admi...

Re: Metro Transit fares
been thinking about the GoTo cards a bit and whether or not Metro Transit could benefit for offering different variations of the cards. So I made a small image outlining 2 rough ideas (1st one is the standard GoTo we already have). Don't know if they are any good or would actually be helpful but jus...

Don't know if the information has already been posted and is buried somewhere in the thread, but does anyone know what the expected travel times from each station to target field will be?

Took some photos of some of the progress around the Moline, far from complete but enough there for something to look at https://i.imgur.com/wBr7Lhf.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4zRkMYeg.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/bgLjJVy.jpg?1 Also the Moline museum is apparently open, you just have to use the buzzer at the...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I doubt we could ever get enough money to build an operate it as well as some questions whether or not it would be necessary, a automated bike storage system would be kinda of cool to have.

Re: Think tank launches campaign to build more lanes, blames investments in public transit and bike infrastructure
I would assume he's an ayn randian "read Atlas Shrugged literally 1000 times" private train nut. That was my first guess but I later found he has thrown some shade at a groups that are aiming to build Private passenger trains as well like Texas Central Railway intending to build a complet...

Re: Think tank launches campaign to build more lanes, blames investments in public transit and bike infrastructure
You know what the biggest head scratcher for me about O'Toole. its this little stub from his Wikipedia page under personal life While critical of government subsidies to all forms of transportation, O'Toole is a fan of passenger trains and an amateur rail historian. His web site, Streamliner Memorie...

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail
IIRC CalTrain instead of opting for the FRA crash standard went with the International Union of Railways (UIC) standards and is the reason the FRA gave them a waiver Although I'm a bit skeptical at the chances of the Dan Patch corridor being electrified. Since it was already brought up I'll use CalT...

Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)
you know I've kind of been wondering why they go with a sales tax increase rather then a real estate or something since one of the main benefits to a new transit lines is that they are a magnet for new economic development around it. But then again I know absolutely nothing about how MN tax works so...
