Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
Metro transit re-ran the projected ridership numbers using the new FTA formula... it's not good. 18.5k daily riders down from 26.6k. Combine with the higher costs of this route with the new alignment and it's gonna be tough to get a federal match on this project so says Scott Dibble. https://kstp.c...

https://www.metrotransit.org/performance Metro transit ridership data has been released for August. Slight increase in ridership over July, with most services modestly increasing in ridership. Noticeable jump in riders on the Orange and A lines, noticeable drop in riders on the D line. Overall a po...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Having worked at Metro Transit for a couple years a decade ago and being close to some folks in Service Development, I can't help but notice the stop consolidation and better bus route stuff is coinciding with several recent retirements of an old guard of route planners, and subsequent rise in the ...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
The presentation materials I've seen suggest extending 8th Avenue only to 4th Street, and that is just a dashed line on a single map. If they did extend it to 3rd Street (and by extension to Washington using the existing street), that would help somewhat. But even then, you lose the connection thro...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
I believe that is in the proposal for the project!Extending 8th Ave between 3rd St and 5th St would be a good way to keep the access between North Loop and Oak Lake Ave.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Surprise (to me, at least) stop consolidation and TSP coming to the Minneapolis portion of the Rt. 10 in a couple weeks. Looks like it will generally drop stop spacing down to every other block in the areas that currently have a stop every single block. https://twitter.com/h_pan3/status/17063256143...

In a twist no one could have expected, the gambit to avoid the NIMBYs on Lyndale by routing down 10th and Washington has run into NIMBYs on 10th . Just submitted a letter to the editor due to their one-sided reporting, they didn't interview a single person that lives near 10th Ave(like me) that sup...

There's a big decal-type sign for this up on the existing building at the corner of Washington and 3rd Avenue, but they didn't splurge for fancier renderings than what we've already seen. Hope this one ends up working out! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230923/e90e97e2d844b2c996280df4058da980.j...

As someone who sits on the Riverview Station Area Task Force, the county and city both still support it as a rail project.

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
I just watched the Met Council meeting from Weds, and CM Judy Johnson truly wants this to be a BRT project, but that's not what most people want or makes the most sense. She really frustrates me.
I guess only 3 out 17 votes on the Met Council are against it, Johnson, Vento, and Wulff.

Well there is also a Starbucks on Washington right by Trader Joe's, so now more locations covering a larger walk shed.I wonder why Starbucks would close the store on the Commons and reopen over here so quickly?

Metro Transit workers authorize strike: https://kstp.com/kstp-news/local-news/results-pending-in-metro-transit-strike-authorization-vote/ Should we be concerned with this? Yeah I think they are skipping that due to it looking too much like the number 1.I think so, yeah. They've requested bonding money to plan and build the J, K, and L Lines, but no I.I expect they'll skip I?

Re: Better Bus Routes - Metro Transit
This comment could go in the aBRT thread or here, but I wonder if going with lettered rapid lines instead of numbers is going to seem like a good idea long-term, once we're in the middle of the alphabet. Instead of A-K (minus I), the first ten aBRT routes could have been labeled Routes 1-10. Obviou...
