Re: Los Angeles
Was just out in Los Angeles this past weekend. Bike and pedestrian culture had a lot of catch-up to do, but it is getting better each time I visit! One of my friends who lives there bikes to work because it is quicker than driving -- hopefully others come to the same conclusion!

A new hotel, skybar, and restaurant are in the works .... downtown development is definitely on the up-and-up.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Exciting news for the Woolworth Building! I'm surprised it held such a long-term lease, but that explains why it has looked derelect for so long with no signs or anything else. Downtown is great (even if it's prettier, more pedestrian-friendly, and classier than DT Mpls). Fixed it for you.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
Without being able to see into it, two things jump out: 1, the midway area is up there with the MPLS CDB. I guess that's why United wants to build office there. 2, St. Paul's CBD is really hurting. Not just that, but it is in a really weird spot too -- when a major employer is leaving the St. Paul ...

Headline from today's Pioneer Press: "Cray supercomputer firm leaving St. Paul for Mall of America" Link: http://www.twincities.com/2016/04/18/cray-inc-leaving-st-paul-for-mall-of-america/ Cray reportedly was looking for about 100,000 square feet, Bauch said, a challenge in downtown St. P...

Re: Cray Plaza (née Galtier Plaza)
Sheesh, the MOA has had its teeth in Galtier Plaza since the beginning. It would be sad to see such a prominent tenant leave, but let's face it: it is in a former mall and as such the space is not well-suited for a single-use tenant. Plus current management is simply inept. I walked through this wee...

I wasn't sure where to put this exactly, but since it is slated to be Mall property, it is worth mentioning that the Thunderbird Hotel will be razed this year: http://www.fox9.com/news/112867805-story James Lileks did a good job documenting this hotel: http://www.lileks.com/mpls/modern/thunderbird/ ...

3M is currently celebrating the opening of the new R&D Center (known to 3Mers as "Building 280"). Very impressive building! It's been fun watching the construction over the past couple years. I really like the building -- energy efficient, modern, attractive, and absolutely stuffed wit...

Re: Cray Plaza (née Galtier Plaza)
Not much to tell. We'd be the last people to know. They did a survey of St. Paul workers a while back and last I heard, it was pretty much what I expected. Most people preferred "suburb" over St. Paul and Minneapolis but it's not really clear what that actually means. Of course these surv...

When intellectuals (even unaffiliated ones like Coates) question Sanders, they are smeared as "Clinton minions." When other intellectuals question Clinton, there isn't this grand questioning of their integrity, they just say "Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man...

154 miles / 2.5 hours is an average of only 62 mph. Interstate speed limit is 70 and many people go over that. But that's not the average speed of travel. When I take road trips, I USUALLY drive above the 10 MPH speed limit most of the time. I also am a big nerd with data and numbers and when I cal...

I walked through last week, and it seems downright chilly in that portion of skyway -- like they turned off the heat.
I will admit that I'll miss that neglected atrium. It used to be quite lovely once upon a time.

Biggest issue I see with this would routing it into Minneapolis instead of St. Paul's $250 million dollar empty Union Depot. Obviously Minneapolis makes more sense, but you know. you seem to be under the impression that Bernie would be utterly unable to contest such negativity. They won't need to go that negative on Bernie. They'd just need to keep saying "socialist" and "he'll raise your taxes." \Bernie uses those words to describe his ideological slant...
