Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

It seems that the design of this thing is a bit flawed. They had to bring back the Abilene High Lift to clean the windows. That's going to be a significant reoccurring expense.
This will be especially expensive during migratory bird season.

Re: South Nicollet (Lyndale & Kingfield)

I assume that they have permission from the car owners to do that. And if that's the case, I assume that they mostly belong to people protesting. If that is also the case, then either the protesters live at that corner and park in the street instead of their legally required off-street parking for S...

I think they should call it "Stadium Village West" in honor of the most prominent landmark.

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction (Washington to 12th)

Face it, even though this is a very vibrant and multi-modal street already You clearly have never tried to bike it. the majority of users of the street are still cars. Is that right? There are a lot of buses and pedestrians. Certainly the majority of vehicles are cars, but I would actually be a lit...

Re: Denver

Downtown Denver to DIA is almost exactly twice as far as Downtown Minneapolis to MSP. Also, in my experience, LRT fare to MSP is a screaming deal compared to what you'll find almost anywhere else in the country. Yes, but it's almost impossible to change that because our airport is not the end of th...

A non-paywalled article from F&C about Union Depot angling off the news that Christos Greek Restaurant will not be renewing their 10-year lease. RCRRA is sending out an RFP for new tenants in the space this week. I hope they can get someone to use the mezzanine space behind where Christos has b...

I like comparing the political content of "conservative talk radio" to the political content of some of public radio's entertainment offerings. Both have an obvious political slant and seem to have about equal educational/news content. The actual news content on Public Radio shouldn't real...

The team owner planning to build a $150 million-plus professional soccer stadium in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood told lawmakers on Thursday that the project could collapse if they don’t approve a property tax exemption on the site. http://finance-commerce.com/2016/03/mcguire-warns-soccer-stadium-...

Re: Franklin and Chicago

Well I was walking along Chicago, I noticed that there are several places that look under utilized. Is there any possibility of redevelopment in the future? It would be nice to get a mixed-use, mixed income development near the corner of Chicago and Franklin. The one I lived in at 24th and Chicago ...

Re: Franklin and Chicago

I used to live in the apartment building at 24th and Chicago. I would volunteer often at the Aids Resource Center that was at Park and Grant (now moving). When I biked there, I would go north on Park (bike lane) and back south on Chicago (I'm confident). When I walked, I ALWAYS went north/south on P...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

Really? Between the Midtown Greenway and the Creek, there is no good crosstown route. Don't get me started on the joke that is 40th St. I like the pedestrian/bike bridge across 35W, but they will be replacing that soon. I expect the new bridge to be wider (good) but probably also have switch back r...

Hope they're a bit faster next week. I don't want to be in an hour long line my first time flying alone.
I flew out on Tuesday (back on Thursday) and my wait in the TSA line was under 5 minutes. Those lines may have been day one problems (already resolved), bad timing, or just a fluke.

Also reinforces the notion here that "gentrification" = "change I don't like," in that some people don't like downzoning and conversion to SFHs. It's good history to know, nonetheless. Gentrification is complex, but here are two definitions: Oxford Dictionary - the process of re...

Re: Southside - General Topics

Speaking of Lyn-Lake, checked out Volstead's this weekend. Very cool place with nice atmosphere. Drinks were very good and the wait staff did a great job. On the negative side, they let way too many people in. It's no fun standing in a crowd of sardines constantly being bumped and spilling drinks. ...
