Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
One advantage of the 3C alignment is that it would really improve transit access from St Paul to Uptown. When I lived in St Paul without a car I would often avoid going to Uptown even though I wanted to because it would take forever to get there via the 21 or the 16 and a transfer. When I got a job ...

Re: My Twin Cities photoblog
Thanks. Sorry - what other sites are your pics posted? They are posted in the urban photography forums on Skyscraperpage.com and Skyscrapercity.com (SSP and SSC). I would recommend that anyone who is interested in urban photography in general check out SSP, its' photo section is great (I like the re...

My Twin Cities photoblog
I post these photos at SSP and SSC but I thought I should post them here as well since a lot of posters here don't frequent those sites. I'll start in January, take it up to the present and then post more as I take them. Minneapolis, January http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8083/8381529182_dfbc6dd4c3_z...

Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
I really like the way this one looms above the street. Once the vacant lot across the street is filled in Hennepin and Lake is going to have legitimately urban streetscape.

If Minneapolis continues to add population at this rate it will add over 900 ppsm to its' density by the end of the decade.

Re: Vikings Stadium
One of the things that happens in cooking sometimes is that a chef will get so into local sourcing and showing off technique that they forget to make the food taste good. Similar things happen in all creative endeavors. This looks like the architectural version. They got so into the narrative of the...

Re: Vikings Stadium
Maybe it will be better when it is built but the more I look at these renderings, the more worried I become. When Target Field's renderings were released it was obvious that it was going to be an iconic stadium, but I am not feeling this one. It is inelegant.

Re: Vikings Stadium
My first reaction is that it looks like a giant 1960s modernist suburban church. Not sure how I feel about that.

Re: 4Marq - (400 Marquette Avenue)
On topic I think this is a nice building, it is not the Taj Mahal but it is not unpleasant to look at. Some people expect every building to be an iconic groundbreaking design, that is unrealistic. No city has that. Most cities, even the great ones, are mostly full of regular buildings that are styli...

Re: 4Marq - (400 Marquette Avenue)
The developments they have been building in Seattle the last few years are nothing to write home about, our infill is probably a bit better. Actually, if you look at the development forums at SSC it quickly becomes apparent that we are getting top tier infill compared to most of the rest of the coun...

I think they bought at the top of the market and are trying to make their money back. They haven't accepted reality yet.Maybe I should have taken Econ...if the rent is too high to keep all these tenants, why is the rent so high? Blah blah blah market forces blah blah blah..?

Re: Uptown Restaurant News
just odd a chicago based chain can't make a go of it at that corner. business must have been just really slow. rent cant be higher in calhoun square vs a chicago location. guess it's all in the concept, food, ambience. Minneapolis proper is a hard market for out of town restauranteurs. It is full o...

Re: Uptown Restaurant News
The word on the street in the industry was that Figlio's sales were dropping. I don't know if that is true but it is what I heard from reliable sources. If your rent is increased at the same time you can't continue with the status quo. The things restaurant owners say to the media should not be take...

Re: Uptown Restaurant News
Figlio was dying when it was closed. Its' problem was that all the people who loved it were no longer young and no longer hanging out in Uptown. The love for Figlio was a product of middle aged people with families being nostalgic for their younger and more carefree days, but they didn't eat there a...
