Re: Bapster2006's reprocessed 1980's photos

I remember a few details about it. I remember that it was the first location for both Goodfellows (top floor) and Tejas (basement). It also had Minnesota's first Banana Republic, back when it was more kitsch-y and safari themed. I'm impressed with the picture of an escalator because if I recall corr...

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

Will they let the Kenyans finish/win the race at least? (This might not be as funny as I originally thought. I'm trying to picture in my head how this protest could turn into a meaningful experience that changes hearts/minds and foments change...but I'm struggling to see it - especially if the strat...

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

I think the fair was a good place to engage with Minnesotans who may not be otherwise forced to based on the fairs political nature, but I do have a hard time with the marathon. It's not really a political stage, it's hardly televised and it does put people in danger. When you've been running over ...

I didn't see anything in any other thread...

I would concur that it is looking much better (the windows in particular) but I was curious if anyone knew the reason for the delays, prospects for tenants, etc.

Re: New Kraus-Anderson HQ (9th St. S/5th Ave. S)

I think it was wise to update the renderings to reflect "Finnegan House Hotel" instead of the generic "BREWTEL" which I thought could be pronounced "brutal" by detractors.

Re: Suburbs - General Topics

Of all the suburbs she picked to defend, she picked Lakeville. Lakeville native here. Curious as to why you question the selection (other than the obvious reason, that the author lives there). I may be splitting hairs here, but Lakeville was a town unto itself before being swallowed by the suburbs....

The New Hope / Crystal boundary is a mess too. They should get together, along with Robbinsdale.
There is an island of Crystal in New Hope. WTF.

"The preservation of these lots would be good news for commuters. Downtown Minneapolis has been losing inexpensive surface parking lots at a fast clip due to new development projects, which could make spaces more sparse and drive up parking rates." Well, there's some forward-thinking, insi...

Okay but all day it has been complaints. I really challenge people to say something positive. Like this: The ground floor windows are nice and tall and have a good green tint to it that will be nice if ever re-purposed for retail. We've already heard the quotes "the pre-cast sucks" and &q...

Surly it is not.
I thought the exact same thing.

What I find most interesting about this development is how KA threw in everything after offering zero initially - isn't that how it played out? It reminds me of encouraging toddlers to share: "Kraus, it would be nice for you to give Minneapolis a cookie. You have plenty and Minneapolis has none...

Most of the taprooms in NE close by midnight if not earlier. There are plenty of places to be a drunken idiot in downtown - I would not suspect that Finnegan's would be much of a draw for that type.

Re: 2024 Olympic Bid?

Personally, I think we should probably try to host the winter, not summer, Olympics, though it would be nice to make use of our overabundance of stadiums.
We've got stadia out the whazoo...we don't have mountains. Winter O's would never happen here.
