Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

so LA get's a rendering of their stadium and a plan. we get fuzzy details about a possible stadium and bungled PR campaign to lobby legislators. he hasn't even officially secured the land yet has he? (mcguire) they don't want to release it because it's still far from a done deal. and we're supposed ...

how much of the project's funding is certain and what more is left to secure from the state? I've read quotes from peter mclaughlin that they've secured 80%

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

mayor was trying to protect city's massive investment in vikes stadium. she quietly backed the wilf's getting the expansion nod. i think mcguire should've gone to the county from the beginning. some PR and political stumbles since the expansion press conference. they didn't have their ducks in a row.

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium

the cladding is definitely darker than the renderings/models. i don't mind a darker black but the renders show a lighter brown. it's going to look very futuristic with this black and clear glass.

Re: Minneapolis Sculpture Garden & Walker Art Center

I'm definitely not in love with the new landscaping, particularly at the main entrance. It looks ruthlessly cheap and suburban. Berms? Ugh. Why. This corner is the most visible side of the museum and the gateway to one of the biggest attractions in the Twin Cities paired with the Sculpture Garden. ...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

Yesterday's entire production was so completely amateur and not becoming of an allegedly major sports league. Actual popular sports in North America have cities and their leaders lined up to welcome expansion or relocated teams. The MLS, despite having many large wealthy markets without a team has ...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium

reserving judgement waiting for the exterior install. it's a really massive building. i can see it from the 46th street 35w elevated bus station.

and i don't like the walker expansion, in retrospect. it's a hulking, cold presence on hennepin. it should be more light and transparent.

Re: 5 Arbitrarily Ranked Nice Neighborhoods in the Metro

that wedge co-op parking lot is awesome isn't it. i don't how many near car accidents i've witnessed there arriving and departing onto lyndale. franklin/lyndale is a wreck of an intersection. linden hills has it all. historic mix of housing stock, mix of apartment stock, you're right on the best lak...

Re: AC Marriott Hotel (401 Hennepin Ave / Andrews Hotel site

yea i don't what it is about mortenson and their renderings. or maybe they just build bland buildings. that new hotel over by first avenue isn't anything special. the rendering they released for the nicollet hotel block is the worst of the proposals.

Re: Top 5 Neighborhoods in the Metro

this list is silly. if west end is a neighborhood then i suppose so are southdale and the mall of america. true neighborhoods that make my top five:

linden hills
longfellow
highland park
st anthony park
bottineau
