After going carless, my partner just got a job that requires a car. So back to being a car household I go.
(On the bright side, he's sticking to zipcar even for work needs for a while to not rush the process. I did not realize that they're decently cheaper than Car2Go)

Re: Video Games
I was really hoping it would be TTD in 3d, but it's fallen a bit short. I'd kill for a real true TTD-alike in a proper 3d engine with some eye candy. I still play OpenTTD itself for hours upon hours. My latest region is all Japanese in the year 2050. God I love building Maglev lines. On the topic o...

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)
Could residents really have to spend 2+ minutes driving to their parking spot? Do lower (i.e. quicker) parking spots correlate with higher stories/ better units? The world wants to know. I'd guess the apartments are going to have some floors of reserved spots on the lower levels, then non-reserved ...

Re: Mill City Quarter - (300 South 2nd Street)
I'm not exactly optimistic about this woonerf being anything other than an access road for parking. Good luck getting Minnesota drivers to yield to pedestrians. Is this actually an issue? I walk downtown every day and honestly haven't noticed a problem with people yielding. If anything, people yiel...

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development
Ok - looked at the proposed design fronting Nicollet again. Lots of glass fronting the Mall, but one entryway? Do these developers NOT read/listen to studies/experts on how to create a successful building design at the street-level in an urban environment? To be successful and to create an exciting...

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)
Yeah, thought I was in the 4Marq thread with that photo. Oops. I never connected a building Xcel's size with needing a ramp podium.I believe he's referring to the Xcel Energy building, not 4Marq.

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)
The 7(?) floors of parking will be much more obvious when its windowless facade goes up, I think.Look Ma! No parking podium!

Re: MSP Airport
A standardized naming convention is... cute?A332? B763? B744?
What is going on with these numbers?
B747-400?
B767-300?
A330-200?
Why the need to try and be so cute?
Would you prefer Boeing 6 and 6S?

Re: Video Games
Most exciting part of Skylines isn't the release but what modders will be able to do with it. SC4 players know that the modding community has well outlived EA's support of the game. But Colossal Order is going all-in on modding and flexibility, and just released their detailed modding notes , for an...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
Still is: But the presentation lists that block as "LRT Station Block" and not part of "The Commons" I mean, it makes sense, and I wondered how they would incorporate the top of a parking garage into a grassy park. I'm sure something will still be done to make it an inviting pla...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Just put out a letter that says "Who has or can get their hands on the most money and wants to build a building?" But... that's exactly whan an RFP is, and that's never been hidden. Finances are always going to take first place. Always! This is business, as much as it means more than that...

Re: Rumors: A Historical Record of Mystery
Every time I jump back into this, I become more and more convinced there's something more sinister at play here than fooling forumers. Here's a profile I dug up in the fake ring of profiles: "Samuel Horowitz," a private investor from NYC. This isn't a character that ever popped up on SSC ...
