Re: Mall of America - Bloomington

Well the first graphic HiawathaGuy posted says "circa 2025" on the bottom. So probably not as soon as you'd like.

And I'm curious about the hockey rink, would it just be a skating rink in the middle of the mall, or an actual arena-type rink with seating for spectators?

Re: Riverview Corridor

The idea of interlining the Riverview Corridor with the Red Line BRT is interesting. It would certainly give the Red Line a purpose that it didn't have before, and make it distinct from the Orange Line. Then we could just call the Riverview LRT the Red Line. The existing Red Line would just be a BR...

Not sure what the delay on this project has been, but signage recently went up at Pieology in Highland Village. Snapped a quick pic. Also the work on the Cleveland/Ford intersection area is taking forever...

Re: Riverview Corridor

Back towards the other terminus, is it at all viable for the train to go through, rather than over, the hwy 5 tunnel? Would widening the tunnel/bridge cost less than adding a second deck? Having the train run literally next to Fort Snelling has to be an issue anyways, as nice as it would be for it t...

Re: Riverview Corridor

Of course, remember this line will involve not one but *two* interchanges - we're all focusing on the junction with Hiawatha (because it looks harder) but they almost certainly will want to connect this with the Green line to run into SPUD and the maintenance facility. I expect the easiest way at t...

Re: Riverview Corridor

And going through the Highland Park neighborhood is highly questionable. There's no room on Cretin. And Mount Curve residents would surely rather have grass and trees on their boulevard. They'd put up a good fight.

Re: Riverview Corridor

Sorry I've missed the recent events here, but I thought this was going to be Bus over Rail? Or has something changed? What are the chances it actually ends up being a new LRT line? Over 50%?

Snelling Ave I94 Bridge

[Not sure if this belongs here or in the transportation section.] The bridge deck will be removed and replaced this coming Spring. Constructed in 1962, the bridge carries about 42,000 vehicles per day and its deck pavement "is nearing the end of its lifecycle," http://www.twincities.com/tr...

The X has been in the process of replacing their outdoors marques over the past few weeks. I'm guessing they are wanting to get the work done by the time of the first preseason game on the 27th. Also they are replacing the jumbotron and the ribbon board in the arena this off season. I can confirm t...

Re: Sibley Plaza Redo

Hate to start an Uptown-like argument, but is this area considered "Highland Park"? I know someone who lives in the apartments across from Sibley Plaza, and she insists she lives in Highland Park, which confused the heck out of me when I tried to find her place once. Technically it is: ht...

They also get you as an investor to think about them for your stock portfolio. I'd have to say as diversified as they are that they would have a decent ROI with their dividends. It is a public education/promotion campaign to increase their visibility in the rest of the Midwest. We're talking about ...

Re: Highland Park Target Express

Apparently Barnes and Noble is NOT going out of business, in fact the Highland Park location has been making more than the average Barnes and Noble store. The reason Target Express is going in is because there was apparently a bidding war and Target continuously outbid Barnes and Noble, so ultimate...
