Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I saw a few tweets about that and was wondering what that was. They seem to knock Metro Transit. Not sure why you would sit on tracks whether they were LRT, heavy rail, or freight!

Re: Development process
Thank you so much for the clarification!
Sounds like council members fear their constituency a bit more than in Chicago. A good thing, some would say.

Re: Trader Joe's in downtown Minneapolis
But when I do, I want it to be all organic, artisanal hand mashed, chia infused, and doused with Whole Foods Unicorn Tears™!trader joe's would complement whole paycheck nicely. i don't always want to shell out $7.99 for a bag of tortilla chips.

Development process in Minneapolis
Hello all! I'm new to the city and trying to understand how people do things here. I came across this Strib Article that talked about frustration that developers encounter when they try to pitch new ideas or developments. http://www.startribune.com/local/blogs/258655761.html#commentHere What exactly...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Hey all! I am not sure how it usually works, but I noticed that the LRT stops at it's own railroad crossings. I've seen this happen several times. Is this the way it's supposed to function? I was going eastbound on Washington ave and noticed the gates come down just before the West Bank station. Thi...

Re: POLL: What should we call the City Council?
Did we use alderman at some point? It's much easier. Alderman, alderwoman.

Re: 729 Washington Av N
Hmm, I believe that is big enough for a Trader Joes. They must have an interested retailer, because Greco has said repeatedly that they thought the market was getting overbuilt and they wouldn't build any apartments for a while. Side note...When I looked at their project across the street when they...

Re: 729 Washington Av N
Sounds like the biggest parcel of the three if my memory serves me. If there will be 10,000 sq feet of retail, I would imagine the parking is going to be in rear, or on level 2 or 3 with an entrance from the street.

Re: Trader Joe's in downtown Minneapolis
I think we under estimating college students here. I've been working in higher ed for years, and buying your own food is consistently cheaper per meal than dorm food/campus food. Access to affordable food is always a real concern. When living on a ramen budget, it always makes sense to cook at home....

Re: 729 Washington Av N
Cosign like a mofo! When I walk my dog along Washington, I'm always thinking "I wonder why no one built on that space."I hope by adjacent they mean behind. ain't nobody got more time for another garage facing Washington.
This is the property next to bunkers, I assume?

Re: LRT Disappointments
I was not suggesting that they would or could make Google do anything, just have it in the format that Google requires, as mentioned above. A friend of a friend worked for a smaller transit agency and said that the challenge was getting their data into the desired Google format. I'm actually interes...

Re: LRT Disappointments
It's kind of annoying to have to resort to putting a company on blast in public in order to get some results, but I guess that's the way it goes. I just tweeted Metro Transit to find out if Google Maps will have the Green Line information before day 1 of operation.

Re: LRT Disappointments
July? That's rather bizarre. Do you think maybe they don't see it as a priority because LRT service is more frequent? Not very comforting in -10 temps.
Seems odd.

Re: LRT Disappointments
Would it be that hard to have all of the trains on a map dot system like you are driving? A bunch of colored dots moving on the line back and forth. I would love to see where all of the trains are as our system grows. ( i swear that im not writing this just because Im obessed with the transit game ...

Re: LRT Disappointments
I'm fairly new to the city and new to Metrotransit, so I share the OP's frustration. That being said, I'm happy to be able to zoom(for an hour) to work without hopping in my car. However, I think the announcements and signage are fair game. That's pretty serious stuff for those who are visually impa...

Re: Underpass Park in Toronto: why not Mpls?
This would be fantastic. As far as the underbelly of a highway goes, that area is pretty clean and could convert to some park of public space rather easily. In some places, they've even built skate parks or dog parks(rain proof dog park?!).

Re: Third North - (800 Third Street North)
I also toured the place and the finishes were cheap relative to other buildings in the area and price range. Formica counters when their competition has granite counter tops for instance.
Whole Paycheck. Wish there were another option in the area!
