Re: Prospect Park Station Development - (2901 4th Street SE)

Wow that's quite the proposal. The one piece that surprised me was that they had ground floor apartments facing 29th St. I would have thought either retail or a restaurant would have been the better decision there.

Re: TCF Bank Stadium

I drove pass the stadium this morning and it looked like there were construction workers on site starting to assemble the temporary bleachers for this season in the open end of the horse shoe.

I know but the first sign big neon sign was so much better than those dinky backlit letters at the top of the building.

Re: 2700 University Ave

With how awesome it was it's too bad big SAINT PAUL sign was taken out of the new plan. Maybe if the city smiles real nice and finds a few dollars sitting around it can magically reappear.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

Can we all agree of the United proposal falls apart for whatever reason that the city should start back at the beginning a do a brand new RFP compared to going with either Mortenson's or Doran's mediocrity sitting on the back bench.

Re: Target Center Renovation

The Wolves in house "reporter" tweeted construction will start during the '15-'16 season and wrap up in '16-'17. Personally I believe this project will happen when I see a shovel in the ground. With as many times the project has been delayed, changed, redesigned, etc. so many times it's ov...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

While I would certainly hope he, or any other uber-wealthy individual, does donate much of his fortune to charity eventually, it isn't up to us to decide that. It is, however, up to us to decide whether we should give him money when he doesn't need it. Correct. But if we decide not to give him mone...

Re: Stadium Village Tower

SV historic district: Just the Sterb's building.
One more - the three story block kiddie corner from Sterb's. But that's it. Everything from Oak to Huron (except S&H) can go
I would save the Chipotle and Punch Pizza building on that corner as well.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

Pretty hypocritical of Bender to support this stadium, but to make a big stink about supporting an existing sports facility, The Target Center, San Francisco values I guess. Besides I am pretty sure Andrew Johnson is not a yes. http://blogs.citypages.com/blotter/2015/04/minneapolis_city_council_mem...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

I was talking with a buddy the other day about the new stadium and what it's going to take to get the thing built especially considering Mayor Hodges likely veto. We started counting votes on the MPLS City Council, as it takes 9 votes to override a veto, and according to our count we think there a p...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

I've read Field of Schemes on and off for a few years and the author(s) have always left me with the impression that they started with a preconceived narrative that they were going to make fit no matter what. I'm not discrediting there research, because all of the academic research comes to the exac...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

What United has put forward, I think, is a very reasonable proposal. I understand and respect the opposition to the proposal on principal but looking at from total cost of the of the subsidy it would be the smallest of any facility that has been built. Adding in the fact that the West Loop is a corn...

Re: Opus Development - 315 Nicollet Mall (Ritz block)

We can only hope that downtown residents tell Opus while the design is great the project lacks ambition and is the definition of mediocrity when considering how amazing of property they have to work with.

Re: Major League Soccer in Minnesota

I think the best compromise are multi-use stadiums and it's a shame that's not what we got with the Viking stadium... We tried that with the Dome and while it worked this town for 30 years it's time has come and gone, which I would argue is a good thing. With the exception of combined basketball &a...

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development

I know why Opus proposed what it proposed and honestly I like the design of the tower but I feel like we are getting a used Pontiac Grand Am of a project when this block has the ability to be a brand new Aston Martin. It's underwhelming, disappointing, and just sad all the way around.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

Even if they selected the Duval proposal and for some reason it was not able to come through, what would stop the city from putting a stop to the "new" proposal. At the end of the day, they have almost more power than necessary. Because they would no longer own the land? The city would be...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

This shows how little faith I now have in the city of Minneapolis from ever truly embracing the future. Yes, it's all the city's fault for a developer who overpromised and then couldn't deliver. "Dreaming, imagination, and creativity" doesn't get steel and glass out of the ground. He neve...
