Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Just rode an eastbound train to Stadium Village. Stopped at Church, Union, Walnut, Oak, and Huron. St. Paul's issues get all the media attention, but Minneapolis/the University also desperately need to fix their shit. Stopping at pedestrianized streets should never happen. Up until this week, the t...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

On a westbound train that narrowly the Dale signal and then a fire truck came through. That ten seconds cost the train at least 2.5 minutes. We need soft preemption on major intersections. Edit: train made up a minute between Dale and Stadium Village My hope is after October once they have all the ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Yeah, I don't know. It's a frickin train. It has horns and stuff. And it's a huge 300 foot train. Also it's a giant train. I'm finding it hard to have a lot of sympathy for the collisions that have happened so far, because it's a giant train. It has horns and lights. It's huge. How do you miss it. ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Not to make light of the situation, but it is pretty easy to NOT be hit by a train.

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)

Has any seen ridership numbers for the Blue Line since the Green Line opened? Trains seem a lot busier since June.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Green Line ridership is running over 40,000 per weekday

https://twitter.com/McLaughlin_P/status ... 0049601536
Anyone know what the ridership on the 50/16 was? Curious how that would compare.
According to Wikipedia 23,776 in 2010.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

St. Paul must have given more intersections full transit priority or tweaked the system again. This week my westbound trains have all been on time arriving in downtown Minneapolis. This is the first time since the line has opened that this has happened. Here you go. http://www.twincities.com/localn...

Today on 35W south of downtown, I saw several Metro Transit buses displaying Blue Line Express. Anyone know what this is?

Can't forget about the abandoned city of Hennepin south of flying cloud rd.
Do tell more. Are there remnants of the city?

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map

The light rail on the Dan Patch will have to be in the realm of fantasy because the State legislature had forbid any plans or analysis of passenger rail on this line. Legislators from Bloomington and Edina were behind that. Laws can be changed. I actually wouldn't be all that surprised if this was ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

I wish I could find the link, but I read ridership numbers for the Green Line and the 16/50/94 bus. Pre-Green Line: 16/50/94 buses - 500,000 riders per month Post Green Line Green Line - 1,000,000 riders per month 16/94 buses - 150,000 riders per month Keep in mind these numbers are from memory so t...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

I also think the perception that people shouldn't use the Green Line for downtown to downtown flawed. For me personally, I live downtown Minneapolis and before the Green Line opened I would get to downtown St. Paul maybe once a year. Since it opened I have taken it to downtown St. Paul at least 6 ti...

Re: Guerrilla Urbanism

Hmm...I like the idea of just being able to stick it to the pole, right below the bus stop sign. So it should probably be oriented vertically like the Brazil example. Keep in mind that the stops that need this most are the ones without shelters - the ones that just have a pole in the ground. We can...

Who will control the Minnesota House? This thing is awesome. Combining 2 of my favorite things, maps & politics (woo look out Mr Party over here) it lets you see the current make up of the house districts, and create your own scenarios. It also offers up loads of information. Its similar to 270...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)

Someone was trespassing in the northbound tunnel at the airport and delayed trains by 40 minutes. All while the Green Line was out of service. Hectic evening for MetroTransit.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Does anyone know why the eastbound trains can go 50mph over the Washington Avenue bridge, where westbound trains are limited to 25mph? The permanent speed limit sign before Coffman is covered in black plastic, and there is a construction cone with a 25mph sign on it. It is almost like they forgot to...

From KSTP: http://kstp.com/news/stories/S3542238.shtml
The person was hit by the westbound train while illegally walking in a non-designated crosswalk area at the intersection, according to Metro Transit spokesman Drew Kerr.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Did that higher priority go into effect yet, or was it just approved? I was on a train that got stopped at Grotto at about 12:15am on Saturday night, which kinda took me by surprise. Not sure. I rode through that area twice on Saturday during the day and didn't get stopped at those intersections at...
