Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
tbf there's been tracks there for a long time (although are you talking about the lights on 36th or the new-ish ones for highway 7) without too much issue. And brightline have to deal with flordiamen which are a lot worse drivers, although we'll see how bad it'll get now that the Orlando leg is open...

Re: Heritage lines, excursion trains, and other railroad attractions in MN
Might be jumping the gun a bit but CPCK announced their "final spike steam tour" about two months ago and the 2816 should have a stop in MSP (probably at SPUD unless anyone can think of a better spot) in mid to late April.

Re: Freight Rail News and Happenings
I would of thought the bridge on Quentin is more annoying for drivers with that blind stop sign thing.
Also wonder if the track is abandoned whether it'll be turned into a rail trail or saved for a future transit project.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
This is just a random thought I had recently but does anyone else kinda feel like places to park/lock you bike is starting to fall behind our current levels of infrastructure? (Obviously we still could do more in terms of paths and protected lanes, just in comparison). I had a little first hand expe...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Anyone old enough to remember when the blue and green lines where being built recall roughly how long it took from them being "almost done with construction" to fully open to the public?

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)
Speaking of ridership decided to update the old ridership chart (and decided to use the data from the FTA National Transit Database instead of the APTA cause they where missing numbers for both the MVTA and Metro Link in the past two reports). https://i.imgur.com/CjJV5cV.png full: https://i.imgur.co...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
The portion between the depot and where the depot ends is only a few blocks, there's actually a little connection that I think I open a few 100 feet away that spits you out on st. Louis Street that I think is open. The biggest obstacle still seems to be from beltline to the Greenway which is sorta b...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
If anyone else has bikes around Edina regularly and noticed how the city likes to pave their on street bikes lanes concrete or some other material besides asphalt (not sure if anywhere else in the metro does this), am I crazy for finding them more annoying then normal painted lanes? I'm sure most pe...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I've biked up and down 17 god know how many times and I would prefer the multiuse over the track. I hope they don't do the on street bikes lines, although they might not since correct me if I'm wrong but hopkins doesn't have a lot of them (only one I can recall is a bit on Blake south of Boyce st.)....

Re: Interstate 94
There's an easy way to reduce demand on 94 to justify getting rid of a few lanes.
Fully toll it between the two downtowns, although that might be the single option that would piss everyone off.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I will say though, I get the need to keep people away from an active construction site but many of the trail closures look like they could easily be reopened if there was an actual desire to do so. I think they just give up after a point and just let people on. I can't recall the section from Louis...

Re: Valleyfair - Shakopee
Do kids nowadays even care about Peanuts, or is the idea that the theming is targeted at nostalgic adults, who are the ones taking their kids there? My hunch is Thunder Canyon will be the next ride to dissappear. 1) It's old. 2) There's been some high profile incidents involving old raft rides 3) T...

Re: Valleyfair - Shakopee
It might just be nostalgia talking but I wouldn't mind Valleyfair expanding family attractions. Specifically renaming planet snoopy to camp snoopy and adding something that isn't just a kiddy flat ride since while I was like 7 or 8 when MOA lost the peanuts branding, I still have some strong memorie...

Re: Valleyfair - Shakopee
I've been down a weird rabbit hole of theme park essays and videos for some reason and buried in it was apparently during the freeze event a few months ago the general manger of the park mentioned to a few creators that attended that Valley Fair is most likely going to get a new coaster in 2025 or 2...

Re: Expo 2023 / 2027
If the supra-national EU is comparable to the United States in terms of population, economic power, and international politics, then why are the EU "states" (countries) not comparable to US states? For example, Norway has almost the same population as Minnesota (5.4m vs 5.7m), similar GDP...

Re: Expo 2023 / 2027
I disagree, trying to compare a state to a country is ridiculous. Whenever I here someone from California or Texas say they would be in the top 10 countries if they were independent, I can feel my eyes start to roll. Plus most of the world cares more about US cities rather than states when they both...

Or more likely the rest of the world still views Minnesota along with the rest of the Midwest scratch Chicago as a flyover state.

Re: MSP to Rochester High Speed Rail
They do like their own stations, but mostly for land development reasons. I could see two scenarios where they would be open to using existing infrastructure: - Union Depot gives them the space and means to create their own customer experience at the station, similar to airport lounges for preferre...

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image
I'm of the opinion every single state flag that uses the same blue background, slaps a seal in the middle regardless what said seal may or may not represent, and plasters it's name on the damn flag, is trash and any excuses to redesign them are welcome.
