Re: "Lot A"

Hennepin County and Fine Associates (nearby Five15 on the Park developer) own two smaller triangular parcels just north of the Red Sea building. Hopefully this means that the Lot A development will include something fronting Cedar right up to the corner. While air rights are probably impossible here...

Re: Five15 On the Park - (1515 5th St S)

It looks like the median (if we're talking about the same one) is actually outside of the project limits. Do you have something against it in particular? I think it might be there to prevent people from pulling right up to the LRT station to do drop-offs & U-turns. My experience with Somali driv...

Re: Metropolitan State University Expansion

I kinda saw that coming, and yeah...that is insane. Online-only, other-campus, and bus/bike/walk commuting students should organize and protest this ridiculousness. But who will organize them? Will they even care? With Central Corridor (2014) and interlined 7th St aBRT (2016-7) on the immediate hori...

Re: Lyndale Garden Center Site

The apartment and retail portion of this project has been approved by the City Council, pending approval of the Lakewinds Co-op portion of the site. The Co-op is going to own their building and is considered a separate project, as far as the approvals process goes. The apartment/retail portion is pe...

Re: Ward 10

It seems the entire swath of the City between downtown and Lake Street should have Pedestrian Overlay parking reductions and design guidelines applied. But that would take a Councilmember who "works on rezoning" to quote Meg Tuthill's infamous voicemail from last summer.

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects

The only cancellation, which they claim is "on hold" is The Venue project near First Ave. WaHu is now delayed...I could see it getting scaled back at worst, but not outright cancelled. Everything else proposed right now seems likely to get built. In Uptown, Elan II and III are the only pro...

Re: Mayoral Race

There is something about Betsy Hodges demeanor or tone that just rubs me the wrong way. I wouldn't use a word as strong as condescending, but a lesser version of that...motherly? I don't have the expansive vocabulary of HoratioRincewind but anyone who watched the last candidate forum should know wha...

Re: Linden Hills: Bayers Hardware site

The "villagers" of Linden Hills deserve every bit of criticism they get. NIMBY is an understatement...these folks are CAVE people: Citizens Against Virtually Everything "This will all end in tears" “Linden Hills will turn into nothing more than a strip mall.” “Within a few years ...

Re: Block E

I don't have any lofty expectations for Block E, other than the owner make a ****ing peep about what they plan to do. You guys are talking about redevelopment, but I'm not sure what you envision here. Obviously an exterior facelift is in order so it doesn't look like a cartoon building, as Lileks ca...

Re: WaHu Student Housing - (1016 Washington Avenue Southeast

MNdible - I'd like to hear more about that over in the Block E thread, if you'd care to elaborate. Many of us are under the impression that the movie theater was forced out against their wishes. Didn't they take Block E's owners to court over their lease not being renewed?

Re: Uptown Restaurant News

It was recently rumored that the current owners of Calhoun Square are looking to sell soon. They may have overpaid, but Calhoun Square is as close to fully leased as it's been in a long time, and the future looks very bright for the area. I think once it became clear that Primebar wasn't going to ma...

Re: Downtown Retail News

F&C reported on that too, and yes, it seems they are going to be renovating/repositioning the existing space. I still think it's weird that the Neiman space and Gaviidae II are going to have different owners, considering how connected the spaces are. Presumably they will have a single property m...

Re: WaHu Student Housing - (1016 Washington Avenue Southeast

Officially delayed from opening in Fall 2014 to Fall 2015 or even 2016. The plasma center has no where to go, due to the City's overly strict zoning regulations on that type of facility. Their lease isn't up until summer 2014 and they are not willing to leave early without a place to land (makes sen...

The F&C story also mentions that they will rehab some common areas into leaseable space, increasing the available square footage, in addition to a makeover to B/B+ space. There were some quotes flying around like "it will look like a totally different building", but I'm not sure if tha...

How so? They'd both be on the bridge, eliminating an at-grade RR-crossing.
