Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

The CMC will meet again this Wednesday. Listed on the agenda is "Staff recommendation on project scope and budget", so it seems we'll likely be moving forward. http://metrocouncil.org/getdoc/be7139d3-eb52-4926-8c09-41af630883dd/Agenda.aspx As for that additional station between Shady Oak a...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

Moving the bike path or tearing down the townhouses still isn't going to appease the anti-LRT faction in the Kenilworth Corridor. Honestly, the only thing that's going to make them happy is the removal of all trains from the corridor. The mistake Met Council made was saying a tunnel of any sort was ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

What a nightmare. The new tunnels under the channel are estimated to cost $270-345 million depending on the length. The tunnel is more expensive than the entire Midtown Corridor. Estimated opening has slipped to 2019 at the earliest. With the under-channel tunnel completion slips to 2020. BTW: Here'...

My personal feeling about the East Bank artwork is that it's pretty cheesy. Math equations at a University? What a novel concept. Oh well.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

Having on-street parking is good for the pedestrian realm. It prevents people from having to walk directly adjacent to a moving lane of traffic. Ramming LRT in the median of Hennepin seems like it would cause a lot of problems. Previously, it has been said that the water table along Hennepin Ave is ...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT)

I would imagine that they would just add TVMs and Orange Line graphics to the existing shelters.

It seems that the highway BRT shelters are in general more substantial than the arterial BRT lines.

Re: "A Line" Snelling Arterial BRT

Sunday frequencies were recently bumped up to 15 minutes. In June 10 minute service will begin on the 84. Considering MT will keep the 84 and run the A Line, there will be twice the amount of buses on Snelling in 2015 as there are now. 40 foot buses should definitely provide enough capacity. I reall...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

Looks like MnDot has made a decision on the Hwy. 77 managed lane project: - From 138th St to Diffley Road, a new NB MnPass lane will be constructed as well as a concrete barrier, for a total of 3 through lanes. - From Diffley Road to Old Shakopee Road, the NB bus shoulder will be converted to a traf...

Re: Satori (Broadway from Alrdrich-Emerson)

I wonder if this is proposed simply as speculation in anticipation of a streetcar line, or even if the neighborhood can actually support such a development. This is one of the poorest parts of the city, and it's actually a bit surprising to see a development plan here. I suppose time will tell. Seem...

Re: Northside - General Topics

A tunnel on Broadway could probably get away with a length from Aldrich to James, about 1/2 mile. Another tunnel might be needed from Oliver to 26th, but it's a really easy project. I don't really believe that a Broadway alignment would have a lengthier travel time than Olson Highway. In any case, t...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

I think that the purpose of the left turn lanes is for access to Toledo Rd and Mt. Normandale Dr. and other local streets. The median is a no-brainer to reduce head-on collisions. The bike trails that currently exist are very narrow and in poor repair. I believe that this project is quite decent, an...
