As usual, Tevlin breaks it down nicely.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
A few thoughts: - I cringe at the thought of hypocritical lake-of-the-isles-liberals getting their way on this. What an illustrative example of how government at all levels caters to the wealthy and how campaign contributions buy access and special privilege. - Before Dayton was elected, I hoped he ...

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map
The story you link to used "redevelop" twice. I don't think that word implies a tear down. Regardless, every Abdul project I can think of has reused an old building.

Ned Abdul bought the former Walker library and plans a redevelopment, according to this locked F&C article.

Re: Minneapolis - St. Paul Business News
That was one of the NFL's many requested accomodations on the bid form that was leaked to the press. I don't think it's ever been made public what exactly the host commitee agreed to in order to land the Super Bowl.

Re: The Police
Of course burning down businesses in Ferguson is counterproductive and harmful, but all of the moralistic finger pointing about rioting really misses the point. I ripped this Martin Luther King Jr. quote from Monday's MinnPost article on the subject. ut it is not enough for me to stand before you to...

"I just don't see why when some blacks think they get the "short end of the stick" they need to go crazy and what I mean by crazy is rioting, looting and burning businesses down that strangely enough are black owned." "I never said white people don't riot. Oh and most of th...

Re: The Police
I think a lot of truth came through in this piece from the series written from the perspective of how the American Media would cover events if they happened in another country. Sometimes we get too close to things to see the big picture. http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_world_/2014/12/03/eric_garner_g...

Re: The Police
Don't mix up your faith tradition with the duties of the state. I'm Catholic, and it is my experience that when it comes to actually helping people, my Church both historically and presently has been far more effective at helping the downtrodden than government programs and as such I pour my time/t...

Re: Capella Tower
So, I work in the tower, and it sounds to me like the spaces were created in an effort to encourage tower tenants to leave their typical day to day work space and collaborate in a different environment. Now, just because that's what it's meant for, doesn't mean the public can't access it. First off...

Re: Capella Tower & LaSalle Plaza
No, they moved the ecalators coming off the main entrance (6th St & 2nd Ave) over about 30' to the middle of the lobby. All in all the circulation should be better and the renovations look pretty nice.

Re: 2014 MN House Election
Also, I would generally agree with the sentiment that it may be as good a time as any to strike out on our own with transportation funding--a 1% sales tax in Hennepin and Ramsey, or something. Don't even bother with the CWADS. If only we didn't commit thirty years of mpls' .5% general sales tax and...

I was not so enthralled with Don Samuels when he was a CM or during his Mayoral run. I don't know much about Rebecca Gagnon and even less about the other two.
Just wondering if anyone has a pitch for any of the candidates?

Re: Rumors!
I'd advise everyone to relax. Get some thicker skin, people. The "easily offended" crowd is represented here very well. I wanted to express my dismay with how some people feel UrbanMSP should forsake its autonomy for entities of an unknown quantity. I think this thread fills its role perf...
