Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017
Who do we think Hodges #1 voters ranked 2nd and 3rd? My total guess is most put Frey but I could see some Dehn votes there too. I have no read on how many Hodges voters ranked Hoch. Early on in the race I was for Hodges but eventually changed over to Dehn. Personally I put Dehn 1st, Hodges 2nd, and...

Re: Hi-Lake - Minnehaha Mall (Target, Cub, etc.) - Downtown Longfellow
Well I'm glad to hear there is a larger project to improve that intersection and provide more resources to help the people that hang around there. During the summer I don't go through there much on foot since I'm usually riding my bike up the trail to the north to work, but in the colder months I wa...

Never said it was...? I was just stating that the trains had been having issues each day that I rode them to work this week. More than normal.
Don't think it's any sort of conspiracy...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Something has been up with the trains this week. Monday they were having issues a delayed through downtown. This morning there was some sort of mechanical issue both directions on the blue line between Lake street and the Airport somewhere and all the trains were delayed by 20 mins or more.

Re: Hi-Lake - Minnehaha Mall (Target, Cub, etc.) - Downtown Longfellow
I notice they've been patrolling the area under the bridge more frequently. After the stabbing they painted some white lines down around the areas against the wall and put up some new trespassing signs. Few times when I've come home there's been a trooper parked under the bridge on the sidewalk. See...

Anyone else see the NIMBY rant article in City Pages?
This article came across my feed today about the 'Gentrification and Slumification' of the city and man it rubbed me wrong: http://www.citypages.com/news/one-residents-view-of-gentrification-and-slumification-in-the-twin-cities/447684593 This whole things just drips of whining and vitriol about the ...

Northeast corner of the Rainbow building is gone! They've been tearing it down in the past day or so to rebuild the new main entrance for the school and the second floor.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I haven't had the chance to bike on them yet but I hear there are some new bike lanes on 26th and 28th that a lot of people are griping about (especially considering the 35w construction). From what I've seen the lanes are huge with another whole lane practically of separation from traffic with pole...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
As a motorist I expect all vehicles to obey all rules and regulations. So not a defensive driver, eh? When driving I expect everybody to do everything wrong - so I'm never surprised. Same here, I trust other drivers pretty much zero. Even moreso if I'm the one on a bike. Being suspicious of everyon...

Have they been marking out a bunch of new 'Bike Boulevards' around Longfellow recently? I live near Hi-Lake and suddenly like...all the streets around my house have BIKE BLVD painted on them. Idk if they were blvd's before but the markings faded or if they're actually new or what.

Really interesting that Aldi would keep the old store open after building this one. I like the talk of improvements for pedestrians. It's pretty awful right now. I don't mind the Wendys. If its entrance was on Lake or Minnehaha, then I would probably not like it. While it would be nice if they coul...

Pleased to announce that I was right about Aldi :D You were indeed props to you for that! I was disappointed with the lack of discussion about the south end of the site. The inability to purchase the Autozone property, and keeping the Wendy's drive thru is really detrimental for the entire site. We...

Re: Hi-Lake - Minnehaha Mall (Target, Cub, etc.) - Downtown Longfellow
To follow up, in terms of my view of how the meeting went. Overall it seemed pretty positive towards the new developments. Seems like the general consensus is that anything is better than a bunch of giant-ass empty parking lots. Like it says in the notes, the contiguous parking lots of Rainbow/Targe...

Re: Cedar/Minnehaha/Franklin Intersection
Good point, I'm sure we'll get used to it in time
It was an extremely dangerous intersection, especially for bicyclists and pedestrians. I admit it's inconvenient, but sometimes you have to inconvenience people to make things better.
