Re: Major League Soccer Stadium
I just looked at attendance figures for leagues across the world I didn't realize how well the Chinese and Indian leagues drew. I'm not an elite enough soccer mind to know what the quality of the play is but I doubt it would be any better than MLS. Also fun fact I guess figured out, the College Foot...

Re: Nye's Redevelopment - 116 E Hennepin Avenue
The E Hennepin Ave Site Section photo on page 79 is rather fantastic considering the main "criticisms" of previous proposals.

214 pages of the proposed Sex World rehab for HPC 12/1. Unless you want to see some very in-depth schedules of the windows they want to use, skip 45-130 http://minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@cped/documents/webcontent/wcms1p-152189.pdf Am I the only one who think the fact that the HPC can forc...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
I know others have a different opinion on the 8th and Hennepin building that's okay, we are allowed to have differences of opinion on what's must be preserved forever and what can get redeveloped. I thought I was pretty clear that I wasn't willing to give up the building at 8th and Hennepin for just...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
To me it is possible to draw a very clear line between the building at 7th and Hennepin and the building at 8th and Hennepin. While I think the building at 7th and Hennepin needs to be saved no matter what I would be at least willing to see what a developer comes up with for the 8th and Hennepin bui...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minnesota
There are a ton of parking spaces between Snelling and Lexington. I think Northern Pitch estimated over 4,000 at one point. The state fair lots would be a very logical choice for a satellite parking lots.

Re: 2024 Olympic Bid?
It's about a week old but here is a really interesting podcast with Bill Simmons and the head of the LA 2024 Olympic Bid. They also touch on the evolution of LA and cities in general. The one thing I found really interesting is Simmons insistences on having everything spread out compared to close in...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minnesota
I would guess a land swap would be possible but would really difficult to pull off. I'm guessing there would be so many moving parts, legal complexities, and time spent the end result wouldn't be worth it. Even if the stadium would be in a marginally better location. I'm guessing the seating bowl wi...

And I'm kinda with Wedgeguy, part of me hopes they give the church the ugliest 6 story stick build we've seen yet.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minnesota
At this point is the consensus it's only a matter WHERE and not IF United get a stadium deal done? Because between Peter McLaughlin breathing new life into the Farmer Markets site and Chris Coleman doing everything he can to get United to St. Paul it sure seems that way to me.

Re: Prospect Park Station Development - (2901 4th Street SE)
Wow that's quite the proposal. The one piece that surprised me was that they had ground floor apartments facing 29th St. I would have thought either retail or a restaurant would have been the better decision there.

I drove pass the stadium this morning and it looked like there were construction workers on site starting to assemble the temporary bleachers for this season in the open end of the horse shoe.

With how awesome it was it's too bad big SAINT PAUL sign was taken out of the new plan. Maybe if the city smiles real nice and finds a few dollars sitting around it can magically reappear.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Can we all agree of the United proposal falls apart for whatever reason that the city should start back at the beginning a do a brand new RFP compared to going with either Mortenson's or Doran's mediocrity sitting on the back bench.

The Wolves in house "reporter" tweeted construction will start during the '15-'16 season and wrap up in '16-'17. Personally I believe this project will happen when I see a shovel in the ground. With as many times the project has been delayed, changed, redesigned, etc. so many times it's ov...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis
While I would certainly hope he, or any other uber-wealthy individual, does donate much of his fortune to charity eventually, it isn't up to us to decide that. It is, however, up to us to decide whether we should give him money when he doesn't need it. Correct. But if we decide not to give him mone...
