Re: "A Line" Snelling Avenue Arterial Bus

A Line BRT moves forward. Below is a copy of the press release today. July 9, 2014 Plans for the region’s first arterial Bus Rapid Transit Line, the A Line, won approval from the Metropolitan Council on Wednesday. The approved plan includes 20 enhanced stations, faster and more frequent bus service ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Don't current southbound Blue Line trains alternate their signs between "Airport" and "Mall of America"? Or am I imagining that? It just says "Mall of America". For the 200-series cars, it alternates btwn "Mall of" and "America" which slightly bugs ...

Print version of the Green Line schedule is now available online.

One thing I noticed---seems like they're going to continue serving both of the new and old Target Field station platforms?......Why?

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

I was at Starbucks on Washington Ave. Transit Mall (the one in the Commons Hotel building) the other day for train-watching. It was a great personal reminder for me that there are lots of signal works that need to be done before the opening. For the duration of 1.5hrs, I was sitting at a patio and f...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

I could still imagine lots of out-of-town visitors using the Green-Blue Lines from dwtn St. Paul to MSP for the sake of reliability. Rail system is more legible to users (especially for those who are not familiar with the system) compared to a bus system. W 7th St aBRT might help a bit, but I would ...

Also, it looks similar to the Starbucks in downtown Seattle

Sounds like a pop-up micro-meetup is going to happen this Saturday. I am planning to be there with my new camera.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Apparently people are still not used to the trains running on University Ave. There was a small crash with a testing train and a truck on University & Pascal around 12:15pm today. The truck was just sitting on tracks waiting for the signal(?!) while the LRV was approaching super-slowly. Even tho...

Re: Target Field Station

Maybe we could do something like this? Those empty spaces remind me lots of station buildings and retail spaces in Japan. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6898844/urbanmsp/keikyukawasaki.jpg Also, check out this blog even if you don't know the language---some inspirational photos on what we could...

Feels like I'm beating a dead horse---but I am still having a really hard time justifying the north tunnel......

but is it safe to consider that pretty much everything's a done deal now?

Thanks for the article. I am somewhat glad to see this project getting more public attention.

Another reminder for myself that reading comments on startribune.com is never good for my mental health and well-being.

Okay, there's not much traction going on with the happy hour idea. Maybe we should fold it for now unless we have more people who want to participate?

Re: Latitude 45 - (301 Washington Avenue South)

Maybe it's buried somewhere in this thread, but has anyone seen the building plan for skyway level? I don't think it's going to be integrated 'into' the building, but I would be surprised if they leave the skyway as it is right now.

Re: Intercity rail to Chicago

In addition to the ROW, Target Field station would probably need to go through some expansions as well.

I remember there were some renderings of passenger concourse on top of the current Northstar platform for the phase 2 of the Interchange project. Anyone know where I can find those images again?

Re: Embarrassing Confessions of Urbanists

I bought a car last weekend. So embarrassed I couldn't really talk to the dealer...especially when I said "Not really." to his question, "Aren't you excited to get a new car?" I still vividly remember his face when I explained later that I am a self-proclaimed urbanist promoting ...

Re: Happy Hour!

I think UrbanMSP happy hours should be scheduled very well in advance, like couple weeks at least. That being said, and now that the ramp on Nic & 4th is coming down, we should have a spring happy hour! I am proposing these dates as our options: 4/24 (Thu), 4/28 (Mon), 4/29 (Tue). Any thought? (...
