Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Metro Transit workers authorize strike: https://kstp.com/kstp-news/local-news/results-pending-in-metro-transit-strike-authorization-vote/ Should we be concerned with this? This is pretty common, the last negotiations they authorized a strike as well, but then the Council and ATU came to an agreemen...

Re: Better Bus Routes - Metro Transit
Yeah I think they are skipping that due to it looking too much like the number 1.I think so, yeah. They've requested bonding money to plan and build the J, K, and L Lines, but no I.I expect they'll skip I?

Re: Better Bus Routes - Metro Transit
This comment could go in the aBRT thread or here, but I wonder if going with lettered rapid lines instead of numbers is going to seem like a good idea long-term, once we're in the middle of the alphabet. Instead of A-K (minus I), the first ten aBRT routes could have been labeled Routes 1-10. Obviou...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
I am also assuming there is a soft plan to try to roll over the green line project office staff into this project. That should help keep it moving as well as you don't have to start from scratch like they did with southwest because of the gap in time between it and central corridor. Sounds like we ...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
I'm starting to hope this whole Blue Line extension project collapses based on the new, proposed route. The route past Robinsdale down the middle of a 6-lane stroad is awful, and now the North Minneapolis routing is looking pretty bad. I fear the route along 10th and 21st Avenues will make access f...

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)
Atrocious in terms of reliability, price, or something else? I've only used Connect once and it was just to try it out. Seems like it can work well instead of very low-frequency fixed routes, but only if they have the drivers and buses to meet the demand. Reliability and Price. It is more expensive...

Lots of cuts to local MVTA service beginning September 5th. https://www.mvta.com/news/sept-5-services-change-trimming-some-local-trip-times-suspending-route-479/?fbclid=IwAR0hdbIW-5QiXiyJEXry_ZEAUY8JpT39q5UgVZ96Z8Ff2Ebfb0BuB8kUXco Also some small routing changes and a few additional southbound trip...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I'd rather have 30-minute frequency than 0, as long as it doesn't take away the high frequency service on the Green Line between the downtowns. I agree with Silophant, I definitely don't think Metro Transit is in a place currently where expanding service is possible. Also, you don't build LRT and t...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
What do people think about adding another station on 7th street just north of Olson/6th? Would be a good transfer point for both the C and D lines, but current land use around the station is very poor and it is less than .5 miles from target field station. And of course there is a travel time penal...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
Is there a technical reason why they chose James over Emerson/Fremont? Is the stop spacing too close? I can't imagine that the headways would be short enough for that to be a problem. IIRC, I believe the Emerson to Fremont block is too short for a 3-car station. But the Lyndale block is the same le...

Robbinsdale did elect a pro Blue Line Extension city council in 2022, so I see no issue there.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
The footage really drives home how much of SWLRT is running through undevelopable wetlands, along highways, and industrial areas. And it's pretty stunning how little they have done north/east of Hopkins. I believe there are some developments proposed for some of the wetlands already. Sent from my i...
