Re: Trader Joes (Lyndale and 27th)
"What Minneapolis Planners should have said to Trader Joe" http://www.streets.mn/2012/06/21/what-minneapolis-planners-should-have-said-to-trader-joe/ Lyndale Avenue can do a lot better than this. As the recent OpenStreets proves, the difference between St Paul’s Lexington Parkway and Minn...

Re: Culver's (1491 University Avenue)
Shouldn't zoning have prohibited a Culver's drive-thru on University? Wasn't this the type of development we were looking to rid University Ave of in the first place?

Re: Xcel Energy HQ
Indeed. Glad I'm reading about it. I'm happy to see the ramp go. It'll be interesting to see what happens to Xcel Energy's old HQ.This kind of made my day. I like new construction.

Re: RS Eden Emanuel 822 Third St. S
This does look like a solid project. I'm anxious to see it break ground. I think it'll be a great addition to the neighborhood.

Re: Nicollet Mall
I can't find much about City Center and why it's terrible, and with my somewhat limited number of visits downtown I'm not even entirely sure what constitutes the building. Is there any good information on it? Should it have a thread? That's a great topic and I'm going to attempt to research it this...

Re: Minneapolis Armory
It's hard to imagine a tennis facility in downtown occupying the Armory and being financially or socially viable. If we progressed with this idea, we'd essentially be creating yet another single-use building dedicated to a specific sport, probably heavily subsidized by taxpayers, that would attract ...

Re: 129 Plymouth Ave N
This is a very poor use of prime real estate. It's hard to imagine that City zoning would allow this?

Re: Target Center Renovation
I can't help but think we're going to be sinking $127 million now into something we'll need to spend $300 million to renovate in 20 years. These renderings are non-starters for me. Let's do something simple: activate the streetscape with small retail shops that can survive during non-game days. Will...

Re: Walker Library
I preferred the old plan that included apartments / hotel above the library. My guess is the economy put that project on hold. Personally, I'd like to see this corner add some more residential to the neighborhood. A good way to do that might be to have the City of Minneapolis act like a developer, s...
