Re: Red Rock
In these little towns It could stop right downtown and not add significant ridership; the populations of these towns are tiny. One major purpose of small rural towns is to service farms, so it would make total sense to provide parking for the same. Also, train isn't frequent enough for someone to mo...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Or route midtown streetcar to Hopkins I like where you're going with this. 1. The Midtown streetcar will use LRVs. 2. Extend it to Hopkins. Route it to Shady Oak by way of Hopkins, Blake, Louisiana, Wooddale, and Belt Line using said LRVs. 3. Grade separate "Nicollet streetcar" under Nico...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
I'm hopeful they'll keep sacrificing stations until it ends in Hopkins. ;) Or route midtown streetcar to Hopkins, its already going there for the O & M, and extend existing line West and North West a stop or two. Couldn't argue with the price, bikes, canals, townhomes and trains would continue ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Again we hear concerns about what this project is doing to chances of a broader transit plan From Silophant's link: County officials expressed frustration that the high cost of the Southwest project will sap funding and political support for other transit projects.“I would hate to see us, on this on...

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor
Perhaps you could have insisted it be equipped with an anti-car laser as long as you're at it.
Seriously, any more on what vehicles they plan on procuring?
The Skoda with each wheel powered (no common axle; true low floor and no corner screech) would be swell.

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor
but you obviously haven't been to Glam Doll. You're correct sir. Unfortunately, I've been unable to frequent Nicollet. I assume Glam Doll is in the old Black Forest cafe There's a Mexican Bakery on 28th & Nicollet I think's swell. I wish this city could open at least one good, straight-up donut...

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor
Berlinerin = A girl from Berlin? Just noticed there's a Glam Doll doughnuts that opened at 2605 Nicollet. I'm sure I'll be told I'm wrong by the auto haters, but in the off chance there's any open thought left, ill pose that; Removing parking for this type of business would kill it, along with many ...

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor
Most people just park their car outside Nicollet businesses because the car looks good there.
I live over a mile away, and that's exactly what I do.
I even go get the car, drive it home, then go back and patronize the restaurant.

Re: St. Croix River Crossing
Sorry to say, but if they're going to build the bridge there'd really be no way to justify only two lanes. "Progress" (Developers making wads of cash) would sooner or later demand additional lanes.
Hate to say it.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Interesting that everyone is excited to talk about trams/LRT down Nicollet, or The Greenway and BRT on Hennepin, and discuss in detail (sometimes personal)why it's needed. What's missing is any of that for SW- besides pie in the sky promises about impound lot- railyard miracle development. To me SW ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
ThisA Midtown + Nicollet streetcar system would serve the same purpose as 3C and would reach more people.
Have Nicollet (or another North / South of you choice turn onto Greenway / midtown, nix SW, extend Blue / Green line a stop, and we just saved a billion+ dollars

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
As long as there was (cavalier) talk of tunneling, why not both?
For a billion and a half we could get a nice, all weather DC metro style 'starter' running North and South.
This would be a true win-win, for all but the lobbyists.

BBC: Testing resumes after Maglev extension;
They're talking more than 15 years, and aimed at export.
Sad to say, We'll still be discussing choo-choo's that are no faster than express steam locomotives.
