Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Mostly the lanes end at Cedar because they were a county project and 42nd is only a county road east of Cedar. I think they finally put in sharrows between Cedar and 17th (3+ years after they indicated this would be done) but only to show the connection to the next nearest bike facility.

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar

Speaking of weaving, one of my concerns about the plans as they've been shown is it looks like they are considering having the streetcar follow the curving nature of Nicollet Mall [Mile]. Having the trains go through essentially continuous curves for blocks and blocks seems to ignore the fact that s...

Re: "C Line" Penn Avenue Arterial Bus

mulad- they're actually proposing to remove that bike/ped bridge near Van White as part of the $30M in pedestrian and bike upgrades from the SWLRT deal for Minneapolis municipal consent and realign a connection to Van White bridge.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

One reason to keep the 21st St Station as the connection for the #2 bus, is that it is a substantially shorter distance than West Lake. A quick google maps search shows the distance from Franklin/Hennepin to the West Lake Station is about 3 miles versus 1.3 miles to 21st St Station. Many of us compl...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

Adding a crosswalk at the street level at the bottom of the stair towers is part of the project. This is needed to access the median from the LRT and because people make bus transfers here and currently run across the street with no crosswalk. The proposed crossing is kind of a zig-zag since the sta...

Re: Parking requirements for affordable housing

Sometimes the funders for affordable housing projects have minimum parking requirements that exceed city requirements. Since many affordable housing projects have multiple layers of financing it is not uncommon that one or more funders have minimum parking requirements.

The project at the Franklin Station is the Anpetu Wa'ste Cultural Arts Marketplace, which is being done by the Native American Community Development Institute. The vision is to create a programmable market space in the median of Franklin that would act as a linear park when the market is not in oper...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)

I talked to one of the workers last night. They're removing the pavers on the platforms and pouring concrete. I guess the pavers have been too hard to maintain. Eventually they're going to do all the stations. He also mentioned they'll be testing two 3-car trains on the Central Corridor tracks this ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

If the shallow tunnel were used south of the channel and all 3 modes were co-located north of the channel would there still be potential to include the 21st St. Station? Is this station really expendable to Peter W. & the mayor to get more tunnel through parkland? If we're going to build the LRT...

Re: Van White Memorial Bridge

I've always thought a bridge between Penn Ave (just south of 394) to Douglas Ave. could make a useful connection. You could provide vertical access to the new Penn LRT Station from the bridge and fill a major gap in road connections between north and south Minneapolis. The access planning I've seen ...
