Re: Green Line (Central)
There is near each one, It's basically a small metal structure maybe 20' by 10' give or take with a bunch of electronic equipment that controls the switches and signals. The best example of what I'm talking about is the blue structure next to the Midway McDonalds

Re: Green Line (Central)
lrvopdude might have a better explaniation but those are interlocking signals for the lrv's. They are the same ones as on the Hiawatha line (Blue line). My guess is they are testing them to make sure they work. I have seen others on the green line that have been lit up for a time then go dark again....

Re: Green Line (Central)
The overhead wire is all the way to the OMF but is tensioned only to Chatsworth. Poles are going up in the omf yard and they have been laying track there. Also they have been testing signals various places along the line. Any idea of when everything will be cut in?

Re: Type II LRVs - Siemens S70
The train barn by 52 won't be ready for a while yet judging by what I saw. No catenary strung yet, not to mention that they are just starting now to lay track under 52. They could theoretically do it without the tracks outside, there's a double crossover right inside the building and all the tracks ...

Re: Green Line (Central)
The dark poles go to just past the prospect park station toward Mpls. While both sets look neat, I'm suprised they didnt go with the same color all the way through, maybe the U wanted it that way?

Re: Green Line (Central)
If only. It could only go as far as the West Bank station at this point, I think. Caternary is still absent for stretches up to the East Bank station, and I don't know if all the necessary TPSS's are installed to make that possible anyway. Pretty much all the TPSS's are installed afaik, but except ...

Re: Green Line (Central)
That's been like that since last winter, From the looks of it some snowplow driver nailed it (there was a pile of snow in front of it). They were stringing catenary near 280 today and bases for signals went in.

Re: Green Line (Central)
If you're talking about the black fence, that's to keep people from crossing the tracks wherever there isn't a crosswalk (which does absolutely no good by the way, the ones by the U work way better)
