Re: St. Paul Restaurant News

Perhaps the mystery space will be in the new building (formerly the Social Security office) which is being converted to Market Rate rentals this fall by Timberland. I can't recall if it's a 5th street address or a Sibley address.

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News

I believe that *Bin* fled for the hills. The hills of Linden. That's what the sign on the door said when they closed. Too bad, since that would've filled out that restaurant row on 6th.

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News

The very last paragraph of the september 9 City Pages article about Lowertown mentions a new restaurant opening up (not World of Beer) by a local chef which will face Mears park. I have to guess that it would be the old "Bin" spot on the corner? Any intel on this? http://www.citypages.com/...

Anyone notice that in the renderings the "skyway to nowhere" is missing? They are going to skin that building alive.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

The parking ramp for the lower town lofts on the corner has been purchased by a developer earlier this year. So... if Bedlam ends up closing, and the 4th Street Station next to is is condemned, that would leave almost the entire block up for potential demolition and re-development.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

I do like the fact that it is providing ways to get down to the Shepard Road bike / pedestrian trails without having to tangle with Jackson or Sibley. Although to be fair, I assume we were going see some improvements with the impending construction of the Jackson Street bike way. Something that I ha...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Wow, this could be a nice link. Right into an increasingly dense stadium village/glendale neighborhood, and with a straight shot across interstate 94. If only it could get at least to Franklin. http://www.railstotrails.org/trailblog/2015/august/31/notice-upcoming-railroad-abandonment-in-hennepin-cou...

Re: Rush Line Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

I will give you that Ramsey County would love to see both lines end/meet at/through Union Depot to force people to use their fancy facility, but transit planners and consultants will be urging them to do otherwise so they actually serve the employment core of downtown St. Paul. The idea that people...

Re: Rush Line Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

So the situation is: Certain parties want / wanted to force LRT users to walk through Union Depot to justify the jillion dollars they spent restoring it. For the actual LRT users, there is zero benefit of doing so (except maybe transferring out of the rain?) Yup. It's funny how we complain about SW...

Re: Prospect Park Station - 2929 University Ave SE

There Minnesota Daily had an article on this recently:

I suppose this means that the auto body shops go away as well.

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

So if there isn't room along the bluff for transit lanes, could it be gradually elevated from the time it leaves the SPUD concourse all the way just past Smith ave bridge where the line bifurcates into the Spur? There are a lot of moving pieces here, such as re decking the high bridge, the river bal...

Looks like they have broken ground on the lot at 2812 University Ave, the site of the building that was destroyed by a fire a year or so back.
There is a 2812 University thread here but for some reason it is locked.

Re: Opus Redevelopment - 7 Corners Hardware site

This might not be the best place to put this, but I noticed that just a block away from this project, on 7th and Walnut, SW corner, "DiSantos Fort Road Florists" appears to have closed and it has it's windows papered over. I am very curious about how this area will look in a few years. So ...

Re: Saint Paul Union Depot

A while back I was malingering in SPUD, after an Amtrak had arrived. A family got off and dad was looking around for a place to rent a car. He ended up jumping in a Taxi to go to the MSP airport and left the wife and kids to wait until he got back. I think SPUD could accommodate a rental car company...

Re: "A Line" Snelling Avenue Arterial Bus

I have seen the new A-line "platforms" going in on Snelling. They are the same height as the surrounding sidewalk. Does anyone know if the whole bus will "kneel" so that all doors will be flush with the curb?

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News

Tonight I noticed that "World of Beer" is opening a restaurant kitty corner from Faces on Mears Park. The sign on the window said "Tapping this Fall". The building is the very nice yellow brick number with arched windows. It has been vacant for as long as I can remember. http://w...

Re: Hamline Station - (1333 University Avenue)

What a grim looking worksite. The white building wrap has been flapping in the wind since they erected the pre-fab walls which had the stuff already stapled onto it. In some parts they have tried to tack it down, other parts it is frayed like Tibetan prayer flags. It seems like this project is going...

Re: 2700 University Ave

I think you are right about the garage entrance being on Ellis. I guess Emerald would be a possibility as well. I spoke with one of the contractors there and he told me that they were going to have 2 stories of underground parking up against University Ave, which makes sense since it is quite a grad...
