Re: Vikings Stadium

And for the snow would they have it heated? I would assume that the warmth of the inside would facilitate the melting. The fact that, unlike the Dome, it would be a rigid roof that doesn't deform under heavy snow loads would allow that snow to slide right off once the thin layer of water forms agai...

Re: The Virginia Triangle (Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck)

I really like your idea, eluko, but I do have a concern: one of the benefits of a roundabout is that if a driver misses (or is blocked from taking) his exit, he just goes around again and takes it the next time. Your design has no such "escape hatch" for unlucky drivers. I think you'd have...

That was by far my favorite of the finalists. It is a quite exciting and inspiring vision of that entire area. Let's take that $500MM Mayo is looking for an spend it here instead.

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

Just speculating, but perhaps it's because Target Field was built at the transition point between the most productive area of downtown and the newest, hottest residential area—and bridged a major barrier in doing so. The North Loop was already plenty hot on its own; TF was a large piece in a puzzle ...

It is a re-run, of course; it just happened to re-run this Sunday. The timing was serendipitous.

Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)

I'm just confused when the change happened. At one point, it used to be a partnership where the city (or state/fed, whatever) provided the infrastructure at a cost to everybody in its municipality, and the private sector (through banking, VC, their own saved up ca$he, etc) built their own structure...

Re: Sherman Apartments/Hotel - (700 Washington Avenue)

On the bright side, while the hotel is just a "possibility," the description sure sounds like adding the hotel would push this well over 6 stories.

Re: Normandale Lake developments (Bloomington)

I work near 494 and 100 and have noticed both these projects. The first because the parking ramp is freaking huge. The second because cranes went up while I was on vacation last week. Interesting. Also [moderately] interesting, UrbanWorks designed the Covington. There are precious few renderings in ...

Re: Return Downtown Streets to Two-Way

Manhattan also has 58% of the land area and 418% of the population of Minneapolis. You can't compare anything Manhattan has with what Minneapolis has as far as development/transportation. You know that as well as anyone on this board.

Re: The Waters of 50th

You are right; it was supposed to be extremely fancy French-themed condos. I lived in the area (and drove past the lot on my daily commute) when they knocked down the funeral home and put up the big signs advertising the development that never happened. It's good to see that something is finally goi...

Re: Waldorf Astoria

I second Chelsea Market. The wife and I had a delicious lunch at one if the restaurants there last summer. Way cool complex. While you're in that neighborhood, walk the High Line Park. I know it's touristy and cliche now, but that doesn't make it any less cool. And, at the north end of the High Line...

nasa, note that he keeps writing "Republicans" while you are writing "conservatives." There's a big difference, especially in the context of Minneapolis city politics.

Re: The Bridges - (950 University Avenue SE)

This might be a ridiculous question, but why couldn't the parking for this be below the grade of 10th Ave with access (auto and ped) off 2nd Street—or both 2nd and 10th? I understand that the land between 2nd and the River is industrial, but it won't necessarily always be so. And that would also fre...

Man, I was so confused for a minute. The page numbers within the PDF don't match the number of pages of the PDF. 151-154 corresponds to 119-122 and 142 is 110, as printed within.

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

...at the moment. The North Loop is booming, as you well know. There are two apartment buildings proposed for this very area—one behind the Holiday and one next to Fulton Brewery. As there are no parks in the North Loop, this plaza is the closest green space for those potential residents. This might...
