Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

I don't really understand why you see it as such a problem to have one overarching area that contains smaller areas. Even in your previous post delineating the arts, entertainment, gateway, and theatre district, you had the entertainment district being a superset of the theater district and the gat...

Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apt

I don't understand th signage objections, especially as we have so few of them. As long as the signs themselves are not garish, they can actually be something to look at.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

We have distinct districts already when nails down each of the areas. The art district is pretty much the area surrounding Loring Park, with the Walker, Sculpture Garden, Dunwoody, Harmon Place. The Theater Districts is between 9th st and 5th street on Hennepin. Gateway districts is the area of Hen...

Are you talking about across the street next to the new train station?
I think he means the curved facade and little crescent shaped strip of grass on the 5th St. side of the building.

Re: Minneapolis City Budget FY2015 & FY2016

Got the notice for the condo we no longer own. Market value was up (not sure what the percentage was) but it's still way below what we just sold it for. I have no idea where they get their market value numbers. In fact it's about what I paid for it 5 years ago.

Taxes down 0.7%.

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

Yeah, that's necessary. You're correct that I'm ceding too much to authorities. Thanks.
I wish I had more faith in the authorities, and I do trust our locals more than some, but sadly in this area history suggests that we have to be skeptical.

Re: 729 Washington Av N

When it is in a historic district, yes. You have a problem with that, you take it up with the HPC! The city currently has height restrictions in the Mill District and the warehouse district. You need to get the city to change that, good luck with that one! Also getting approval from the HPC, again ...

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

The problem here is that after decades of distrust, this was the absolutely predictable outcome of a black man getting shot by police in North. The individual officer may or may not have acted wrongly but the fact is that the system has acted wrongly for decades and this is what it has wrought. Agr...

Re: 729 Washington Av N

I'll disagree with you there, Anything over 12 stories is a stretch for that warehouse district. Why? I can't think of any reason I'd agree with unless it's geological/structural. The area is awash in mid-rise older buildings that will be around for a long time. Filling in with taller structures ri...

Northeast corner, near the tennis(?) courts. Across from the Loring Greenway.
Looks like it's between the basketball courts and the shuffle board courts. Basically, extending due east from Grant.

I wonder if they'll use the basketball courts as a pads to put the vendors on.

There is no such thing as "too tall" for the North Loop.

But I also will wait for the investigation to determine whether the officer is guilty of something and also to judge the reliability of said investigation. I'll wait until we get a chance to evaluate the evidence ourselves, and hope that when we do so, it will agree with the results of the investig...

Wow, you really outdid yourself with that absurd slippery slope fallacy there. Well done! I see you have no actual rebuttal. Do you then agree that using "percieved safety" (also known as "feelings") as an excuse to abridge our fundamental rights is indefensible? By whom? If a g...

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but there is construction happening next to the skyway at Canadian Pacific Plaza with a sign indicating it's to be Alerus. Internet searching says it's a bank branch: http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/b ... ranch.html

Re: MSP Airport

Right. In my opinion this route cannot simply be a punitive measure against IcelandAir. It doesn't address the bulk of that traffic in a meaningful way. It doesn't need to address the bulk of the traffic. Just a few passengers per flights really could change the economics quite a bit. If Icelandair...

Re: MSP Airport

I don't understand this logic. Higher demand for KEF-Europe flights would only help IcelandAir. Where is the higher demand coming from? I guess I'd assume demand will be unchanged (assuming that Delta won't have connecting flights on to Europe) and what's happening is Delta adding supply to MSP-KEF...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

The same issue is playing out at Bloomington, the only other node on the corridor where two-side parking may be necessary. There is no way that 46th and Bloomington needs two-side parking. Maybe if something popular moved in to the empty building on the southwest corner, but as is the only business...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

The pedestrian median at 17th (added as part of the bike blvd) doesn't leave enough space. I should think that sharrows would be enough here, especially if there were a marked crosswalk.
Figured that was it, but is the median more valuable than a connected grid?
