Re: Vikings Stadium

Rather than have tailgaters bring their own, the Vikings want to herd people to a spot where they have to purchase beer supplied by Zygi Wilf. The plaza accomplishes that. Now it's up to the stadium partners to determine how to make the plaza into something that's useful on non-game days. Despite wh...

Re: Vikings Stadium

This article has a useful map showing the jurisdictions of the Met Sports Facilities Authority (as defined in the stadium legislation) and the Stadium Implementation Committee (which will help with plans for the surrounding area). http://www.minnpost.com/two-cities/2012/08/minneapolis-stadium-group-...

Re: Vikings Stadium

Here's a link to Wilf's remarks, which begin at the 35:20 mark. He describes a "big plaza experience" and says "10 to 12 acre space in front of the building".

Re: Vikings Stadium

Mark Wilf talked stadium a bit on KFAN this morning. He said the Vikings "along with the city and state" will pick an architect within 60 days. He said tailgating areas will be "limited". He said there will be a 10 to 12 acre plaza with more features than the current plaza. He al...

Re: Fiscal Disparities

Yikes! You're painting with a mighty broad brush there. My suburb has LOTS to offer. The air is clean, there's virtually no crime, there are more stars in the sky, my kids go to outstanding public schools, the parks are larger, there are more birds singing (which I admit sounds cheesy but it's liter...

Re: Vikings Stadium

There's truth to the development claim. Rybak has made the same claim. Also, the head of the Downtown Council recently said "there's a reason why the first few decades saw nothing happening there, the development corporation that was formed at the time didn't allow any." http://www.twincit...

Re: Vikings Stadium

Elliot Park folks and a new Stadium Implementation Committee voice ideas in this article. Among other things, they think the stadium must be "woven into the community", it should incorporate premier public spaces including a world-class transit exchange, it should be family-friendly, and n...

Re: Vikings Stadium

Not sure if there's any news here. Bagley says the stadium must accommodate baseball, soccer and basketball. They think a retractable feature is important. And they want a signature facility that's unique to the area, but they won't know what that means until architects weigh in. http://www.twinciti...
