Re: MSP Airport
Other than the benefits of using less carbon fuels and the construction jobs, how can spending 25 million be justified when the savings are only 10 million over 30 years, and that's assuming there is no maintenance costs or replacements. I think they're saying that $10 million is the net savings in...

Re: Farmers Market Soccer Stadium
Everything that's been published thus far has stated that no public money would be sought for a soccer specific stadium, so let's not get into the public funding discussion again.

It looks like someone took an old mobile home and fed it like 30 other old mobile homes.

Nice. I like how the cranes/trusses of the new stadium are sort of receding into the fog.

Irony.Where are we vilifying people that post rumors?...
...The rumor fetishes that some people have is just bizarre to me.

Re: Downtown-to-Downtown Rail Capacity Study
Minneapolis should be the end-point of NLX, but via St Paul. The barrier there is that trackage no longer exists direct from St. Paul north towards Duluth. There used to be the NP Skally Line to Duluth via Old 61 (through Hinckley) but tracks are removed between Hugo and North Branch, and south of ...

Re: Let's establish some rules on rumors?
All I see is "insiders" post rumors and then get upset when we don't all worship the poster and take everything they say as fact. One doesn't need to worship someone to make them feel they are providing value, nor directly attack them to make them feel worthless. There's a whole lot in be...

Re: Let's establish some rules on rumors?
?? What are you talking about? I honestly want to know specifics. No one here begrudges anyone posting rumors. I think people that doubt or question rumors are begrudged far more than the people that post rumors, yet somehow the doubters are viewed as aggressors and the rumor posters are viewed as ...

Re: Let's establish some rules on rumors?
How about sub-threads for "Public News" and "General Discussion" for each development? The news sub-thread contains only publicly verifiable information. Everything else goes in the general discussion sub-thread. Or if people REALLY don't want to read about rumors in the general ...

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development
If everyone on Wikipedia discussed what their favorite part about Nicollet mall, or what Minneapolis city council should do on the Minneapolis page rather than being corrected to facts it wouldn't be a very good resource for anyone. This site strives to be a good resource about projects happening i...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
The lift for the second piece of the main truss has begun.
EDIT: They appear to be setting it back down. Maybe something isn't quite right with the rigging.

Re: Downtown-to-Downtown Rail Capacity Study
One set of rolling stock with 30 minute frequency would mean an average speed of 53mph (11.5 miles with 2 minutes for loading/unloading at each end). That might be doable, but would mean that it would have to be traveling something like double that speed for the middle part of the journey.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Preemption should work fine on the lower traffic intersections as long as it resumes intelligently. For a long time the Hiawatha signals would always resume at the start of the signal pattern, which sometimes resulted in being stopped waiting several minutes for a green if multiple trains came throu...
