It seems strange they cut that scope, the 35th/36th/38th/42nd bridges are still original and will likely need replacement in the next 10-15 years. Additionally without the new bridges it might create some awkward lane squish underneath the old bridges.

In the interim (a.k.a. in the next 20 years instead of 50 years) maybe it would work well to route a single streetcar line on Hennepin-Downtown-University Ave-Stadium Village-St. Paul Campus. But build the ROW from Stadium Village to St. Paul Campus either to LRT spec or easily upgradable.

Or a new outside-the-beltway freeway that is conveniently near land owned by the commissioner!

What's the point of new public art with the restoration of an old building? The art IS the historic stuff... restore as much as possible (the old clocks, ironwork, etc) and call it good.

The other thing is, the marginal cost of new riders is likely approaching $0 at least to the point the current trains are full. So for each new passenger they can attract at, say, $4 then they're actually going to be earning an additional $4.

My hunch is it won't be for sale for long. It is an ideal location for residential development. The LRT will be a wonderful asset to downtown St Paul and is going to attract many more people to live there.

Agreed. I hope the new stadium doesn't set back the organic neighborhood growth we've seen. If anything, I think they should design the stadium so it doesn't have much of an impact beyond its footprint...
