Re: Southside - General Topics
Apparently Yellow Tree has a project on the 4200 block of Nicollet (under construction already) that I didn't know about. They seem to up out of nowhere without much controversy somehow. Yeah, that and the Curran's redevelopment will really transform that strip. An article about that one: https://w...

Re: Interstate 94
Was planning to stay out because everyone knows my opinion on this, but then people started to put words in the mouths of us suburban conservatives. But in this case, you are basically saying that you are happy for taxpayer money to fund the things you personally want (such as removing large amount...

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus
The stop at 38th & Chicago has been removed. If it gets re-added, it would be built as part of a phase 2.
Which means that if the 23 returns to its normal route, there won't be a transfer anymore.
The longest gap in the line will also now be between 34th & 42nd (1 mile).

Re: Southside - General Topics
It's my clinic, and the only one very close to there. During the Floyd protests, the neighbors were protecting this because it was the only pharmacy in greater Longfellow not to have been essentially destroyed. I'd love to see a more attractive building, but access to healthcare is way more importa...

It totally kills one corner of an otherwise great intersection. It's telling that if you stood at this intersection, you would have *no* way of knowing that the clinic is even closed, except for possibly a minor downtick in vehicle traffic.

Re: Dreamland on 38th
Gotcha. I wasn't sure who you meant by "they" in your sentence. But I get it now and agree that it's confusing!Right, I just thought it was strange (and probably confusing, for anybody trying to navigate) that google maps was using that name instead of Third Avenue.

Re: Dreamland on 38th
So, I just looked this location up on google maps, and I noticed that they've renamed Third Avenue as "Clarissa Rogers Walker Way". I thought that typically these renamings are only honorary, and shouldn't actually change people's addresses, etc. Right? It's just a little sign underneath ...

[...] some of these jobs aren't or were never meant to be long-time jobs/careers, i.e. coffee baristas, retail cashiers, etc. They were designed to be for for teenagers, etc., or part-time positions to supplement one's income. That why I kinda don't understand the push for unions for coffee shop wo...

Re: Hennepin Avenue (Franklin to 36th)
It's pretty clear that none of the layouts are prioritizing the driver first -- transit is definitely the winner here, as it should be. But the idea currently en vogue, that every commercial street in Minneapolis needs to have a full bicycle facility, is just a bad use of our limited infrastructure...

According to this (locked) BizJournals article , this project is intending to meet the IZ requirements by having 20% of the units be affordable at 50% AMI for 30 years, in return for some city financial assistance, instead of the unsubsidized 8% at 60% AMI for 20 years option. The former has been a...

Re: Root District - Farmers Market / Royalston Station
This project raises a ton of questions. For one, it's is an interesting challenge to the ten story minimum, since it's quite literally an edge case. Does the city want to lose potential affordable housing by forcing a small developer to take on much bigger risk and cost? (Which would probably mean ...

I get that a lot of architecture fans seem to be interested in that building, but I'll be very happy to see it go. It's street-presence is so deadening and terrible, with the tuck under surrounded by shrubbery.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
Since it's pretty much back to the drawing board, how about rerouting it to Maple Grove instead of a corporate campus in the middle of farm fields? The huge advantage of the routing north on Broadway through Brooklyn Park is servicing North Hennepin Community College. It enrolls 10,000 unique stude...

Here is my plan: I will never vote Democrat again the rest of my life. The Minneapolis City Council is worthless and sucked their thumbs while their city was taken over and burned. The arsonists and looters are garbage and should be in prison for the rest of their lives. This is really unhelpful rh...

There is a full service grocery store about 6 blocks away.Maybe buy cup foods but then that’s taking away a grocery store in an area that just became a food desert.

While the response and the outcome was not ideal, I really disagree with the idea that the main lesson is that we should send in massive military force as early as possible. The initial activation was the largest law enforcement deployment of the Guard in MN history. When combined with the State Pat...

Populations of the 5 largest cities 2019 (2018): Minneapolis 435,885 (429,382) St. Paul 315,925 (313,010) Bloomington 90,271 (89,654) Brooklyn Park 82,444 (81,679) Plymouth 79,475 (78,351) Wow. So the five largest cities combined to gain ~12k residents, and well over half of that was Minneapolis al...

I mean I would take anything at this point both because 1) the current setup is terrible and has so many failures, and 2) who knows what the market will be like in the next few years.
