Re: Sons of Norway block redevelopment - 1455 Lake St W

I think that small brick building is condos. Might have just been too much effort to buy out each owner.

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

I hope it's an isolated thing. I really don't think it's appropriate for neighborhood groups to be amplifying the voices of the homeowners who make up those boards and who undoubtedly are already submitting individual comments. I was just curious if there was a movement afoot in other 'hoods.

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

I see that the Seward Neighborhood Group's community development committee will be discussing the city's draft comp plan on Tuesday, May 8, 7pm at Matthews Park. According to the meeting announcement, the meeting is being held because CM Gordon indicated that comments submitted by neighborhood organ...

Even if this gets watered down to just duplexes or triplexes, that would still be significant.

Does anyone know if Arby's decided to close on its own or if the landowner (Supervalu/Cub) is kicking them out?

I agree that clearing brush would enhance views of the river and downtown, but I think it's unlikely. The natural areas bordering St. Anthony Main are part of the national park and outside of invasive buckthorn (which likely makes up a good chunk of the brush) the understory vegetation is an import...

I think Cano would have been vulnerable if she had drawn a decent challenger, but Schiff was not it. Ward 9 just had bad options on the ballot.

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

According to this reporting, Andrew Johnson was a Glidden supporter for prez in 2013. https://www.minnpost.com/politics-policy/2014/01/decision-keep-barb-johnson-president-highlights-new-minneapolis-councils-dyn I saw Palmisano's staff campaigning with Cano over the past few days. I think Cano is pr...

Yeah that will be really close. I was hoping that Goodman would no longer be chair of the Community Development Committee. But if she's good at arm-twisting some of the new folks to get Palmisano elected prez, she'll get rewarded. I could see her being a good arm-twister.

Yep, the criticisms I heard about Betsy were mostly about her "style" and "lack of presence," not policy matters. Some tough situations were "mishandled." People seemed to want a more showy, charismatic man (nostalgia for RT?). I really don't see Frey doing any better t...

Yesterday I got some early voting numbers from the Minneapolis elections staff. 7,260 early votes cast so far. In Minneapolis, my single family home bill for water/sewer/trash is always between $65 and $75

This month it was
Water: 18.65
Sewer: 15.45
Refuse: 28.35
Drainage: 9.27

Re: Cedar/Minnehaha/Franklin Intersection

I'll add that it looks like Hennepin County wants to discourage all pedestrian crossings at 20th Ave. The new median curb blocks the crosswalks at 20th Ave. I went through there with a stroller the other day and when crossing at 20th Ave, and I couldn't walk directly across the street. I had to swer...

I think the Franklin bridge over 35W is scheduled to be replaced as part of the big 35W/Lake St construction project (according to MnDOT's project page, Franklin is one of the first bridges to be reconstructed in phase one of the project). Does anyone know which government entity gets to design the ...

Re: Counties Transit Improvement Board (CTIB)

Conference committee is usually only legislators who supported the bill. Those on the conference committee are supposed to advocate for the bill that was approved by their chamber, so it wouldn't make sense for the Senate to load up the conference committee with members who hate the bill. Sparks vot...
