Re: Vikings Stadium
The facade of cockeyed giant cinnamon sticks is certainly quaint looking, and should smell wonderful on game day.

I don't think there's been a lick of construction since the water main break, which is two days lost at this point. In the grand scheme of things, not tragic IMO. I'm wondering what the financial ripple effects of this will be. Yikes!

Re: Downtown Office Market
but Minneapolis and St. Paul really need to work together and not fight against each other. I'd almost say that St. Paul has taken 3rd place behind a very strong and turd-like shaped Bloomington-Eden Prairie economic hub. Anybody who is in a job hunt and looking for mover-and-shaker companies knows...

Re: Gateway Park
An unfortunate aspect about this location is that it is bounded by three very auto-centric roads. For sure. The one 911 call I've made was when somebody got hit crossing Washington at Nicollet/ING Building. That intersection pisses me off royally, from a pedestrian and driver's point of view. Great...

Only in Minneapolis can a McDonald's get smashed down, immediately followed by a base-to-crown tower dissertation.

It couldn't hurt. No worse than Else Warehouse. But Montecondeux is good. You should trademark that.

Re: StoneBridge (2nd Street South & 11th Avenue South)
Wasn't there originally a French sounding name to this project, even before the Park Vista naming? Like, The Montecondeux or something?

Re: 129 Plymouth Ave N
The property consists of abandoned excess right of way from a cancelled roadway project and is less than one acre (34,338 sq. ft.) in size. Interesting. Could this be the old I-335 project. I know that proposal had the highway angling across the river from Boom Island to about this location. At any...

Total agreement. Also I hope they keep the diagonal potential bike/pedestrian corridor open to the river under 1st st south. that would be a cool little greenway.

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Are we honestly obsessing over Arcades, now? Really, guys? Arcades??? My gosh, what other useless frills do we wish Minneapolis had? An Obelisk, perhaps? A Monument Avenue? Besides, doesn't Gaviidae already function essentially as a wide arcade? *spit take*. Wait, Foshay is an obelisk! But se...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
The vacant lots around this project will likely become "hot" properties in the eyes of developers, so it has the potential to spur a mini building boom in the area. Never. The non-parking lot blocks in this area are governmental and insurance buildings. Nobody wants to hang out here, roam...

Yeah, just more of the same. They started 5th floor framing today, on the 1st Avenue side.

^ Thinking about it now, I'd may have liked Izzy's operation to go in on the ground floor adjacent to Whole Foods somehow. A neat synergy, IMO.

Re: IDS Center
That was my immediate thought as well, I wept a little for Philip Johnson. The simple white lights looked clean and austere, and now it seems odd and tacky. But whatevs, my two cents are spent.I wonder what the minimalist modernist architect feels about flashy colored lights... lol

Re: IDS Center
Meh. I love that they are adding something to the skyline but it seems a bit half-assed, no? Agreed. It's like the IDS is looking down the street at a younger, flashy Target HQ and having a mid-life crisis. Basically, the IDS colored lights are the equivalent of a guy with a bad comb-over in a conv...
