Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
The "Bloomington Model" is replacing an interchange at 494/34th Ave with a new expensive SPUI that benefits cars and harms transit users (the train is now much worse than the old configuration at 494). They still seem overly concerned about N/S traffic. Should N/S traffic be a priority? Y...

Re: OATI Office Building - Bloomington
I feel like tech companies opening in the suburbs are just begging for second or third tier talent. Considering that the absolute top tier tech people are in urban cores like Seattle, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, etc etc, even locating outside of one of those markets means your not getting the...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
This CAN'T be true! David Greene says that Midtown Corridor is right around the corner! He assured the 3C "pipe dreamers" that we shouldn't fret about that line to the suburbs because actual existing density was going to get a line very soon. That assurance means that it is a real thing. ...

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)
I count about 70 trips each weekday in each direction, which makes for about 5-6 people on each of the 140 trips. The mind boggles at the waste that is going on here. Anecdotally, one could say the same about Northstar. But both are building blocks for our expanding transit system. They may not mak...

Re: Riverview LRT
IIRC, Ramsey County picked the consultant for the Riverview Line just last month. I wouldn't expect any public meetings and a website and whatnot for a few more months. That Finance & Commerce article states this: "Rogers said the RFP should go out in early February, and a consultant could...

Re: Riverview LRT
I thought that all of the funding that the CTIB would generate had already been spoken for after Bottineau and the BRT lines. Has the sales tax been performing better than scheduled, allowing them to forecast some additional funds beyond their original conservative estimates? The pdf document is a ...

Am I missing something, or did that article not have the all important "when"? Just said unveiled and showed a rendering of the final product, so I assume that it wont be ready for this year. I believe they broke ground on this last fall. I think it might be done. From this KSTP report la...

Re: Public Transit News and Happenings
One take away, dedicated ROW streetcars seem to be viewed as less of a fiasco. Minneapolis will never, ever be Toronto. So comparing the street car(s) planned for our city and theirs isn't even fair. Perhaps if NYC had streetcars, you could compare. Toronto is HUGE. Even their subway is subpar to M...

I understood what he was talking about just fine. It really wasn't that hard, was it? It's not about not understanding, or it being hard. But for the record, yes, it hurt my eyes... because it's about knowing proper grammar. One should know the difference between two, to, too, or your, you're and t...

Re: Conrad Hotel in the Plymouth Building - 12 6th Street S
I am assuming that they will build something out to the corner of Hennepin & 5th, rather than leave it as a surface parking lot. Presumably this building is going to have plenty of amenities which require the rest of the block face along Hennepin to be built out. That was the basis for my state...

Re: MSP Airport
June/July has been pretty impressive for people into large wide body aircraft as I am at MSP AF1, Antonov, and now a BA A380. To bad it was so early in the morning it would have been nice to see a pic. It says they where only at MSP for around three hours so I doubt that would have been enough time...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
I agree that the reporting on this crane has been very lacking. I think a lot of people assumed that it would be 400ft. tall at all times. So a lot of people didn't think that it was the one that it is for that reason. I haven't seen it fully extended yet, but it sure is a massive beast! I love all ...

Re: 55 MPH vs 60 MPH
A bill passed the Legislature this year that requires MNDOT to look at over 6,000 miles of highway in the state and look to up the speed limit to 60mph where/when appropriate. The news report on the passage said it would take them up to three years to assess all the roadways in the state. But there ...

Re: Type II LRVs - Siemens S70
I'm curious how long the option for additional cars will still be valid -- there's probably going to be an order for Southwest within the next, say, 18 months. From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro_Transit_rolling_stock): Type II LRVs In 2010, the Metropolitan Council negotiated a cont...
