Re: Star Tribune Blocks
I don't see why they couldn't just make a massive pedestrian bridge over the streets- I mean great bridges can even become a focal point (see millenium bridge in london, or better example, the bridge by millenium park in chicago...)

Does anyone have a list or breakdown of when these various apartment projects are supposed to open?

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
Last statistics I saw, for Q1 of 2013, was that class A office space in downtown had a 10.8% vacancy rate, which is really quite good. The market could support a couple projects- like this Ryan/WF project and the Hines development (I personally still think that will happen, and go-ahead will be soon...

Green screening is a good idea IMO. It can take a couple years til it matures but it could be cool. Just wonder what types of vines they could use given limited light under the viaduct...

http://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/tesla-to-introduce-new-30000-compact-sedan-as-electric-car-company-expands-its-charging-network/ Also of note, to coincide with the Tesla recharge station expansion, they are also planning a new compact vehicle that will sell for "$30k". I put it in quotes...

http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/blog/real_estate/2013/05/unitedhealth-about-to-sell-two-towers.html?page=2 United health just sold two minnetonka office buildings they occupy (700,000 SF total) for $146 m. Sounds like it will be a sale-lease-back. Good way to infuse $140 m+ in cash into your b...

Re: IDS Center
The blue glass we have has aged about 10,000x better than bronze glass would have. Do you remember the squat 4 or 5 story building off of normandale (actually right on hwy 100) that used to have a bronze glass cladding? in the mid 2000s they reclad the building in a more "normal" blueish ...

So let me get this right Le Suer.... What I'm not hearing you say is that it couldn't host an NHL All Star Game. I think that would be really cool. Anyone else? Pls respond. Thx. I believe in the ceremony a couple weeks ago they did show a rendering for hockey or basketball. Final 4 is a definite p...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Totally understand. However the buildings in that area are a city building (where they house plow equipment), the EP school bus depot and the middle school. The larger employers in the area would be just as close to this station as if it were to terminate at Mitchell. Touche. I did a quick look on ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
If the purpose of the SW LRT was to get people from North Mpls (and other underserved markets) out to places with jobs, this makes a heck of a lot more sense (I count 9 buildings within a 3-5 minute walk) than building more "TOD" in a car-dependent neighborhood (aka it would serve young p...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
^^ You'd have to think they would be pretty close otherwise why come out with such a grand reveal? WF and Ryan have been known to be in talks since day 1, I imagine Ryan would have sensed if WF was having wet feet about the deal and would have actively pursued other employers. I know it's not a done...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
What a weird place to terminate the line. It's kind of out of the way and hard to get to... at least the mitchell terminus left a huge chunk of greenfield development opportunities around the station versus being in a weird industrial park next to a middle school...

Re: Vikings Stadium
Edit: I see you flipped it around. I thought I was going crazy because I've always known the north facing side to be the cold side. Many plants didn't live very long in my north facing apartment. Ya for a second I just assumed that was the only possible reason why they wouldn't make the whole thing...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
I seem to be the one person who thinks they missed the boat on this one. This honestly looks like someone took the older portion of the WFHM campus, doubled the size and added a twin. I'm quite disappointed. The scale seems odd to me also, but that could be the angles. I would like to see an overhe...

Also of note- the Armory will now be directly on the park. Which certainly makes it even more intriguing for redevelopment

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
Sounds like the park will become the new tailgating area. Look up "the grove" at Ole Miss University- they do tailgating in a park. It always looked so cool
